Cannot use mouse cursor
edit: Disabling the hardware mouse somehow makes it work now. No idea why it wasn't before.

edit 2: Now it's not working again.

I only just booted up the game and I cannot use the mouse cursor. It appears on the screen but clicking does nothing. I can't even set the game to windowed mode or do the character creation without the mouse, as many options are unselectable with the keyboard arrow keys.

Here are the things I tried and what happened:

- Config file: "Enable Hardware Mouse" was enabled by default. Disabling it just removed the mouse.
- Disable Steam Community: this did nothing.
- Set exe compatibility to XP Service Pack 3: Game minimises itself and refuses to open again after the LucasArts logo. I have to close it through task manager. I cannot set the game to windowed mode to mitigate this as I cannot use the mouse cursor and I cannot select Advanced Video Settings with the keyboard.
- Set resolution to 1280x960 - Same issue as above.

Would really appreciate some help.

I know the last post on this thread was almost a year ago, but I have something important to contribute that will affect whether or not some people can even play the game. I was having the same problems as the above posters, but couldn't fix the issue. I implemented Katana Obama's post (directly above this one) and it fixed everything. The game functions correctly now. I felt it critical to comment after a year of no posts because no one in this thread ever gave feedback that Katana's fix works. Well, here I am, telling you that it fixes the mouse problems.

I can do everything with my mouse except click on enemies and attack them. Other than that, my mouse works fine. (I can drag items, move my point of view, and etc.)
[And sorry for replying to a 2-year-old comment. :-P]

Thank you both for this!

If you ever get the unresponsive mouse bug after a cutscene/ the game keeps trying to resize itself. I found that opening the "swconfig.exe" (located in the swkotor folder in your steam folder) and disabling movies and setting the resolution to max fixed the problem. I'll be honest I'm not sure which one of those fixed but I have a suspicsion that disabling movies prevents all the resizing which makes the game bug out.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Hello my friends

I think I found a fix for all your cutscene problemes and mouse problemes. Simply force kotor to windowed mode with the steam start settings.

Go to properties
than select Setting Game Launch Options
than write "-windowed"

now it should work

For me increasing the resolution to 1600x1200 worked which was the highest it could detect for the game the mouse cursor problem which kept on defaulting back to the Windows cursor seemed to have been fixed by increasing the resolution.
