STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

Jolee bug - please help!
OK. So I got everything working and was 30 hours into the game. I got to the planet Kasheek (I'm sure I spelt that wrong) and right as I spoke to Jolee Bindo outside his shack for the first time, the screen shifts back to where I first met him and he was battling the beasts, but nothing is happening but music playing and the scene never shifts. I tried fixing this by downloading patch v1.03 at this link: http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/437-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic-patch/

After downloading the patch however, I can't even get the game to boot up because I get an error saying "Please enter the Star Wars(TM): Knights of the Old Republic (TM) Play Disc

I verified the game through Steam and its working again (after stating 11 files could not be verified) and the game boots up now, but I still have that Jolee glitch that is keeping me from getting his mission to recruit him. Please help.

You best bet is to go to DeadlyStream.com and ask send a message to Fair Strides for help on the mod. Typically this will happen if you have K1 Restoration!

Only way i got past this was with console command "warp kas_m25aa" this teleports to area behind the forcefield. Jolee is needed later for cutscene to happen. kas_m24aa.mod fix seems to work.

My fix only works if the issue is caused by the restored content mod, which I believe the scene you're referencing is in.

For this sorta fix to work, I believe that the save must be before you go to the forest floor. I'm not sure on that 100% though.

If you have The Kotor Restored Content Mod 1.2 (K1R) installed and all that jazz, navigate to your module folder in the swkotor game file
(Steam, steamapps, common, swkotor, modules)
Find the file titled: kas_m24aa.mod and cut it from the directory, and paste it somewhere else (I put it in the desktop). It should be a movie file. Do not cut the other files that are similarly titled, as you will get an infinite loading screen when trying to go down to kashyyk's forest floor. It should restore the original scene, allowing you to recruit him without issue.
After recruiting him, I pasted the file back to it's original location though, with no issue, as I don't know if other files become dependent on it.

Worked for me. Good Luck! :)

This worked for me, thank you! Weirdly the first time I tried it didn't work- I had a quicksave after triggering the attack cutscene, I tried moving the file and loading that up and it didn't work. Then I tried loading the autosave the game made for me when I took the elevator and it worked then.

It didn't work for me. I suspect it might be because I had already descended (and faced Darth Bandon).

I don't know what to do at this point. I've already found the Star Maps on Manaan and Tatooine, and I have not come this far to restart the game. I already had to restart once because I didn't talk Shaelas on Manaan, and therefore, couldn't access the training area in the Sith Base and got executed, and I had no older saves to fall back on.

It's the same here. I have no older saves to fall back on, and there's no way in hell I'm restarting the game.

UPDATE: Fixed it. Found a workaround on Reddit:

"Get the KOTOR save editor, install and open it up. Find your save file and open it. Go to Globals -> Booleans and then find K1R_JOLEE_FIGHT_0 and change it to a 1. On the right side click "Yes" and then "Apply" and finally "Commit Changes"."

These instructions are wrong, though. K1R_JOLEE_FIGHT_0 is actually under Numericals, not Booleans. I set it to one, and opened a save where Jolee was at his hut. I talked to him, and he spoke as if the fight was over. And then he ran back to where the fight occurred, and THEN ran back to his hut. I was able to continue as normal.

The issue seems to be caused by a file from "Quanons Lighsaber pack" called “kas24_jolee_01.dlg”.

Find it in your game’s override folder, create a new folder and move the file there for now. Then reload a save game file made prior to your very first incounter with Jolee. The game should work as normal without having to edit a savegame file in kotor savegame editor or kotor tool.

What happens is that the file seems to prevent a monster attack that happens part way through your first conversation with Jolee, thereby forcing that attack to trigger when you go to meet Jolee at his home for the first time, however since you aren"t there the game will freeze with the camera stuck at where you first met with Jolee.

Since I cant find the offending script reference error, I can not tell if the file has conflict with another mod or the game itself or if it just has an error.

-edit note;
(My original post incorrectly stated that the issue was caused by a file from "JC's Toolkit" called "kas24_jolee_02.dlg" and that you wouldn't have to reload an earlier save game file. The reason for that error was that I had moved both of those files away without giving a thorough single file investigation.)

Thx a thousand times! It WORKED!!!
With all due respect to the Restoration Mod, a bug like this can't be that hard to eradicate, but it's still there after several updates...

I am going to break this down because this was an awful bug that must have something to do with the content mod save file generation. IT IS A REQUIRMENT! That you move the file "kas_m24aa.mod" out of the "C:\Star Wars - KotOR\modules" or "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\swkotor\modules" folder. I attempted to load the Steam version of this game, the GOG version of this game to try to play past the block. The only thing that worked was going way back to a prior save and removing that file. Once you decend down the elevator to the forest floor. It is to late. The bug is loaded to your save file. I have not added it back in an I now have Jolee in my party. I tried the save game editor, warping around ect. Nothing worked on multiple installs of the game. I spent countless hours trying to come up with a solution.

I'm going to add my litlle contribution here.

Sorry for my poor english by the way, I hope you'll understand what I'm saying.

So, like you people I got stuck at this cutscene.

I tried everything I read here on steam or reddit, with the save editor mod, removing the movie from the modules folder and so on.

In fact, I think that an association of the differents solutions worked.

First I use the save editor mod, and like BNSF1995 I found K1R_JOLEE_FIGHT_0 under Numerics and not Booleans. So I changed it to 1. But did not work. So I did it on all my saves (auto, quick and normal).

Then, I removed kas24_jolee_01.dlg from the overide folder (if you have Quanons lightsaber mod).

Eventually I restarted the game, and it worked perfecly. I were able to speak with the old guy, he runs to the previous location where he fought, and ran back to his "home".

Hope I've helped some a you guys.

May the force be with you, enjoy this amazing game ;)

Kashyyyk btw

After much digging I have finally fixed this. yes the problem is caused by the Kas24_jolee_01.dlg file it is corrupted. i found this out after pulling the original file from kotor itself with kotor tool. I then found the trigger script in the file provided by "Quanons Lighsaber pack" and edited it into the original file from kotor putting it in my overide file and reran the game from before the first meeting with jolee. it works the cut seen does not break and you can still retrieve the saber on kashyyk.

the fix file can be found here https://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/1392/

just unzip and drop in your overide folder. restart from any save prior to meeting jolee for the first time.

For me kas_m24aa.mod in the modules folder caused the problem. Removing the file only worked after I loaded a save from when I arrived at the elevator.

Theoretically if you have this issue, your last autosave should happen just when you go down with the elevator. If you get rid of the file and load that autosave, Jolee will not be bugged.

Note: I run the game mostly unmodded. I only changed the resolution to 1440p and used a widescreen mod this playthrough.
