STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

How to download and add mods to game? (KotOR)
Hello. So a while back I got Knights of the old Republic and today finally got my computer hooked up to my TV. I can't find a way to use a controller and I guess I'll just deal with that since it seems to just not have an option to use one, but since it IS a computer game (my first) I figure I might as well take advantage and mod it. But how do you do that? I saw there was a modding section in the steam thing for KotOR2, but not the first one. I heard of one mod in particular, "Brotherhood of Shadow: Solomon's Revenge" that I wanted to try out.

So, where do I find these mods and once downloaded, how do you turn them on or off?

I appreciate all replies and thank you for any help you can provide.

download mods from nexus mods. the mods will have a "read me" that tells you how to install.

for this game, it's simple... you just put the files the mod author tells you in the "override" folder.

do you know how to find the kotor main file in steam > steamapps > common?

No I do not. This is my first time doing computer games. I got steam just for these (and Jade Empire later). I don't know anything about folders or drives or whathaveyou. Pretty much the only thing I've ever ued a computer for was to go on the internet or to write and send emails to folks. If you can tell me how/where to find that, I'd be most thankful. I appreciate your help

ok i'll do my best to make this easy.

click on the start menu, and go into my computer.
go into the C: drive
find and open up "program files (x86)"
open up the steam folder
then open up steam apps
then open common

there you will find the list of your games you have on steam.

open up swkotor folder; this is the games main directory. there will be a bunch of files that make up the game, you are looking for a folder called "Override".

this override folder is where you copy and paste the mod files to.

let me know when you have found the override folder, then we can continue.

I actually figured it mout a bit ago. someone sent me a message. however i just today ran into an issue

I got everything working and was 30 hours into the game. I got to the planet Kasheek (I'm sure I spelt that wrong) and right as I spoke to Jolee Bindo outside his shack for the first time, the screen shifts back to where I first met him and he was battling the beasts, but nothing is happening but music playing and the scene never shifts. I tried fixing this by downloading patch v1.03 at this link: http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/437-star-wars-knights-of-the-old-republic-patch/

After downloading the patch however, I can't even get the game to boot up because I get an error saying "Please enter the Star Wars(TM): Knights of the Old Republic (TM) Play Disc

I bought this on Steam. I never needed a disc before. Please help!

probably best to go back to steams version of the game.

move the latest saves and your override folder in the games main folder to your desktop, then delete the game. install steams version again.

try removing the override folder and see if you can get past that probem. if it works, your mods are screwing it up.
