Screwed on Manaan?

Okay, so since in my first game, my save wouldn't load, even though I was already on Korriban, I decided to just start a new game in hopes I would be able to finish this time around.

So in order to be a bit more efficient until I catch up to where I was on my first game, I've been following, sort of, a walkthrough I found online. Just to make sure I got everything in a better order and didn't waste time.

Well, I'm on Manaan, following this. Got to the Sith Base. But cannot get into the training room, because the door is locked. Come to find out from some other searching that this is because I didn't speak to Shaelis yet about the missing Selkath. So I think, I'll go back, find him. No, 'cause leaving the Sith base inacts my trial, and because I don't have the datapad yet, I'm found guilty and killed. And I don't have any previous saves from before the Sith base (except a reaaaaaaaaaaaaal old one from Taris yet). Because in this guy's walkthrough, Shaelis isn't mentoined until after the Sith base is over... even though it should have been before, because it unlocks the training room.

So, I ask really... am I just stuck? Hopelessly screwed now? Because I cannot get into the training room... and leaving the Sith base just ends with me dying after my trial.

Is there anything I can do? Or do I have to start over from my old Taris quick save? I really don't want to do this a third time.

I'm wishing I had saved before I got into the Sith base.... aaaaaaaaaaagh.

Yup, I got out of it! Fired my arbiter and talked my way out of it. Thank goodness! I didn't want to start from Taris again.

Selkath law isn't inherantly moral, so no your alignment wouldn't change.
