Energy Resistance is always helpful. It always reduces any damage from blasters and lightsabers by 15 and always lasts 2 minutes, unlike energy shields that die out quickly. Combined with a Verpine Energy Shield and you can significantly reduce the amount of damage you are taking. Energy Resistance also has the nice benefit of not needing much force power.
Drain life, I'd save for the "life savers" on the Star Forge. You can use it to restore yourself and deny Malak the ability to do so.
Force Whirlwind, Stasis Field and Choke won't be too effective against Malak as he likes to buff himself with the power "Force Immunity." Save them for later in the fight.
I'd also recommend using stims like Battle Stims, Strength, Stamina and Alacricity to increase your strength, constitution and dexterity respectively. They last 2 minutes each as well.
You can use medipacks in menu. I's free turn heal.
critic resistance and mental resist help a lot .
throw light saber on prisoniers then malak can't heal himself.
