Help with bugs and community patches

So here's the thing, i've been playing my playthrough for around 20 hours and don't want to start it all over again. but i just heard that there are some bugs in this game that needed to be patched. like you cannot talk to bastila again after kissing her.

Can someone tell me what bugs that considered gamebreaking that i have to be aware of? is it save to install patches for it mid playthrough? can you also please help to give me the link for the said patches?

I am currently on the quest for the third star forge, i have found the dantooine and tatooine ones.

I actually played the game before in 2019 and already got to the big spoiler part, so i'm okay with spoilers. i have never finished the game and decided to start over like a week ago. I can't recall any encounters with this gamebreaking bugs. maybe i was just lucky, haven't got to the buggy point yet or just stupid enough to think it's just part of the game lol. i have kissed bastilla on my old playthrough but don't really recall what happens after.

If you're on the Dark Side, don't talk to Bastila again after kissing her. All she tells you is she just wants to forget it ever happened anyway. If you do, it obliterates the romance and the game will mistakenly assume you never started it. This isn't gamebreaking, but it's annoying that you won't be able to see what you've presumably worked toward play out as it should. Don't do it, and all will be A-OK. If you're on the Light Side you can talk to her again and all will be fine.

Vanilla KotOR really doesn't have many gamebreaking bugs, some people have problems getting Kashyyyk's Star Map test right and certain options can cause a bug where the hologram disappears without giving the map over, so you might consider consulting a guide for the right answers depending on alignment path. Or just make a hard save before doing it, and try until it works.

You should not install the Community Patch or any major mods mid-playthrough, just keep them in mind for when you play again, if you play again someday.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ANSWER!! I can sleep well knowing nothing bad will probably happens to my playthrough now.

i also found out that i don't have Mission journal log, I already talked to her a few times and got to the point that her brother is leaving her with her girlfriend (which i forgot who her name was). just wondering if this is a bug or it actually just doesn't show. if it's a bug, does it effect the gameplay much, because it's just a bug at the journal pad right?

Lena can turn up as early as Dantooine provided the conversation has been had with Mission. Jump back on the hawk and then rezone and head toward the shop with Mission in tow and she should turn up.
