Missing Selkath quest broken

I've collected the datapad and escaped execution after the raid on the sith base. I walk up to the father in the bar and I can't say his kid survived, and the quest is incomplete. What is going on?

Edit: Reloading to one of many contingency saves allowed me to try again. Didn't expect that to work but it did this time. Disregard this thread if you read it.
