It ended up working for me, but you should be able to restore the file to it's location without a hitch, as long as you had a backup save. If you find another solution, feel free to comment here, and I'll try to update this :)
I personally enjoy games from my childhood, or older, but find it hard to replay them when they lack so much in the visual department compared to what is current. As well, some older games hardly function, or have game breaking bugs on today's hardware and software. It's the same reason for me that, while I loved movies on VHS as a kid, I by no means watch them on that format now.
Some games have aged well, and may only need a bugfix, if that.
Others were 'great for their time', but now are very hard for me to play.
Nostalgia and memories are the best buckets of coverup paint for sure.
