STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

Does it work on Steam
I've heard there are a TON of problems with the Steam version of this game, like bugs and crashes. Is it any better, or should I look somewhere else for a copy (preferably somewhere trustworthy :D)?

I've never had an issue with it on steam myself, Cant speek for anyone else but its always worked for me.
That's easing. I just want to make sure it'll work before I spend money on it. It's just an issue of "will this game work and not have issues" and not 'will I like this game". I KNOW I'll like the game because I've plaed it before, on a disc. I can't anymore because it requires an older version of Windows which I no longer have, so that's why I'd need to buy it from here.

If I remember right it used to sometimes randomly crash, but I quick save every 5-10 minutes out of habit so it's never been a huge issue. My most recent play through I haven't had that happen

Both Kotor games usually work (I have 1 on disc and 2 on Steam) but not always without issues. There are fixes for most of the problems - check out the guides section here on Steam.

Both run under Win 10 but if you have a recent PC with a multi core CPU and/or a current graphics card it may be problematic and may simply be impossible to get running, older computers are generally OK.

Kotor is currently on sale so it is only a few pennies and if it won't work you should be able to get a refund up to 2 weeks and 2 hours gametime from purchase.

I have KotoR 2 here and have never had issues with it, but I also haven't seen boatloads of negative reviews regarding crashes. The person right before you said it crashes after Taris, so that's cause for alarm.

The usual reasons for that are a computer that doesn't like the in-game movies, which can be disabled (there are several movies on leaving Taris) or issues with opening the turret sequence. As I said, it will probably run, particularly if Kotor 2 works for you - but it is not 100% guaranteed to.
How does one disable the ingame movies?

As for this other person I think you might half to go into either gameplay or graphics in setting when you click on options don't quite me on that but I think that's where you disable movies.
However if you just turn off fram buffering effects in graphic settings and manybe turn V=-Sync on the game should work for you or at=-less that's what someone said to me.

Hope this helped.

The problem with that is I'd be buying a disc version and I already own a disc version; my computer just can't run it anymore.
Just as I had feared: it's crashing (well, minimizing) on start up. I can't get back in.

I don't speak tech so if there's a solution, can it please be dumbed down?
I don't have a "swkotor.exe" file so these are of no use

Strange...it suddenly started working when I picked the launcher in the files of the game.
