Everyone always says Taris is somehow lesser, but it was rather interesting to me. I've definitely always wanted to wander around an Imperial occupied city and doing so at the skyscraper level was awesome.
I've never lived for long in a real city, so the incredible density of apartments was very foreign.
Don't get me wrong; I'd certainly have been happier with an entire city procedurally generated. But wishes are just that.
Honestly I never found it very interesting or good. Maybe I'm just one of those zoomers.
No the games strong point is the story characters and world. If that doesnt interest you, steer clear. You are expected to care as much if not more about dialogue than combat.
If you want an RPG similar to KOTOR but which has more combat but with a competent story and amazing characters, go play Dragon Age Origins. Or Mass Effect.
