STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

Gameplay?
Does this video game have gameplay? I'm 3 hours in on the Xbox and so far all I've been doing is running around yapping at people. I like dialogue, but the writing is weak so far, and largely uninteresting. Other than that, since the intro ship section, there's been literally nothing else to gameplay except running and occasionally looting, and it's dreadfully dull.
If the only thing this game has going for it is its story (I'll take your word for it, but some of the dialogue really is amateur), then I'll just pass. I'm not interested in animated novels masquerading as barely interactive video games.
I'm also aware that these are just first impressions and may be totally wrong. I only just hit the lower city.

Taris is the weakest part of the game. Best part starts after Dantooine.

Good to know. Thanks!

It definitely is slow at the beginning, but if lore density is an issue, this type of game won't suit you in general. You are definitely expected to be just as interested in the storyline and characters as in the gameplay.

Everyone always says Taris is somehow lesser, but it was rather interesting to me. I've definitely always wanted to wander around an Imperial occupied city and doing so at the skyscraper level was awesome.

I've never lived for long in a real city, so the incredible density of apartments was very foreign.

It's pretty small imo. And fairly linear.

Well... sure. Neither of those are an issue, though. And aren't there three separate wings of apartments? That's plenty to represent what's needed; there's even a majority of empty ones I believe.

Don't get me wrong; I'd certainly have been happier with an entire city procedurally generated. But wishes are just that.

Try getting down to the Lower City. You won't be complaining about lack of things trying to kill you after that.

Its got 'gameplay'. And by that I assume you mean combat.

Honestly I never found it very interesting or good. Maybe I'm just one of those zoomers.

No the games strong point is the story characters and world. If that doesnt interest you, steer clear. You are expected to care as much if not more about dialogue than combat.

If you want an RPG similar to KOTOR but which has more combat but with a competent story and amazing characters, go play Dragon Age Origins. Or Mass Effect.

Thanks for the recommendations.
