jedi guardian VS jedi sentinel!
so time for another fun min max thread! so I was thinking..is guardian all that great? both sentinel and guardian get the same amount of feats/powers. guardian does get a extra 2 damage with lightsabers so thats nice and the jump is pretty good but won't help in the long run of a fight, sentinels get the immunitys witch is great and in the long term of the game what is a extra 2 damage on melee attacks? on top of that sentinels get more skills!

I am starting to think I should pick sentinel over guardian for many reasions because all guardian really has on it is that extra 2 damage, it would make a big deal if you went duling. FUN FACT TIME: the class titles are stupid as they mean the same thing XD example:

guard·i·an
/ɡärdēən/
noun
a defender, protector, or keeper.
"self-appointed guardians of public morality"
synonyms: protector, defender, preserver, custodian, warden, guard, keeper; More
a person who looks after and is legally responsible for someone who is unable to manage their own affairs, especially an incompetent or disabled person or a child whose parents have died.
the superior of a Franciscan convent.

sen·ti·nel
/sent(ə)nəl/Submit
noun
1.
a soldier or guard whose job is to stand and keep watch.
verb
1.
station a soldier or guard by (a place) to keep watch.
"a wide course had been roped off and sentineled with police"

both the words boil down to being some type of guard lol

Guardian also gets the jump skill.

Also, you're mistaken on guaridan and sentinel receiving the same number of feats... guardians receive quite a bit more.

Skill points are fine, but that's why you have party members. Besides a very few skills (persuasion, repairing a certain droid)... most skill based actions can be done by party members. In addition, skills can be temporary boosted by various means.

As for "immunity".... when was the last time an enemy successfully stunned/feared/paralyzed your character? Not very many enemy uses it, and... even if they do, the chance of success if fairly low due to decent saving throws. I'm not saying it's useless, but it's not quite as useful as other classes' skills (consular's focus is pretty amazing, too).

On +2 dmg... that's +2 dmg per hit.
So, if you dual wield + master speed + flurry... that's potentially +10 dmg per round.

But it doesn't stop there.

If you go 100% dark or light alignment, guaridan class gets a boost to stats (either +3 str as light or 1-8 dmg bonus as dark). Which, of course, increases the damage output even further. Depending on your alignment (and how lucky you are), you can range anywhere from +15 dmg to +50 dmg per round.

you are slightly right about the feats (guardian being 9 sentinal being 7) but the 2 saber damage does not make a massive deal in the end game, nor does the +3 or the 1-8 damage (actully the 3 str is very uslesse as you get maybe a extra 1 bonus to your str bonus, 2 if your at a uneven number) the 1-8 damage rounds out to be alot more damage than the 3 str (also alot of dark side items give that str anyways), I also adressed that jump is fairly useless later on or vs bosses witch start you off too close to jump. when it comes to feats all you really need is a fighting type (two handed or duleing)
based on new information I want to say if your going dark side: guardian if your going light side: sentinel, dark side guardian will most likely give you THE MOST melee dps, light side sentinels can make unstopable tanks...maybe I will do both, dark side scout/guardian and a light side soldier/scoundrel (soldier because they start with heavy armor, scoundrel because they get a extra 2 defence for a total of 8 defence from skills) sentinel to make a unstopable unkillable tank for harder diffcultys!

Damage bonuses aside, I just can't recall the last time I was ever stunned by an enemy in Kotor at later points in the game.

But, I also admit that melee damage bonus is rather pointless 90% of the time, too... because I think I usually ended up just spamming force storming against most enemies for quick 10 sec battles (even as a light guardian).

well thats because force storm/death field is OP lol, you may want to try a heavy armor force wave build, gives you crazy high defence and will stun lock pretty much everyone

Eh. I guess you can't really meaningfully compare Force Storm to anything as it's basically the game's ultimate weapon.

I certainly rate Force Jump over Force Immunity, though. Melee becomes a constant option in any situation and you can literally gain all the benefits of a Sentinel just by wearing a Nerve Amplifier Belt and putting some decent points into Wisdom.

Conversely, Guardian's combat progression leaves all other Jedi classes in the dust.

Honestly, the Sentinel is a bit eh. Most would go for Guardian or Consular depending on a) what their base class was and b) what their preferred focus is.
