A few hours (depending how long you take). Not including the Endar Spire tutorial bit, the second planet you visit.

Right now i'm on the planet the sith occupied, and i'm about to meet Mission.

It all depends on how fast you want to progress in the story. If you want to take it slow, do every sidequest, and steal if you so desire then it will take you a few hours. If you rush to get the lightsaber you can get it in about 30-45 minutes after Spire (thats rushing though).

As for the 2nd question. It all depends on what you want. I've done both sith and jedi paths and can say I prefer sith myself (but that's my personality). Jedi would definitely give you the most entertainment I'd say on the first run but the sith is my personal favorite. After I do my run of skyrim I'm heading back to do a blaster only run.
