Tips on defeating Malak?

Really struggling with this final battle. Had no difficulty up until now.

Depends on your build, but, did you take out the jedi batteries first so Malak can't recharge / heal himself?

Try and use all of your stimulants/force buffs that you have. If that doesn't work, you might have to resort to what I did on my first play through. I leveled my character really bad so all I could do was run around in circles and chuck my lightsaber at him. It's totally cheese and kind of lame, but it works.

No keep your medpacks with you advanced and red ones use the drain life ability if you have it, you must reload an older save if you do not have it, it is a dark side ability but you need it.Then all the tanks around you approach hit ok so now he can not regenerate.Now use all your red med packs last use advanced packs mixed with heal ability.Hit and run also if you have granades start throwing it at him especially frag and the red ones,ion granates works well too.Cryo granades can freeze him enough for you to crush him.
In your future playtroughs of KOtor or Kotor 2 here is the deal

20 Dexterity plus gear
Intellect 15
Charisma 11 plus Empathy perks 3/3
Constitution 11
Everything else you should put into wisdom as in all Jedi and Sith use this the game may not tell you this but it is the manna of the game the higher and the better your gear the more willpower you have and can use special abilities they regenerate must faster.
Strength is for basic damage for everything and Dexterity is important for fencing with sabers and swords dual bladed weapons too as it helps you deflect most of the damage.
High Dexterity is for parrying,fencing and deflecting damage it is important as you will have amazing defense and you will be harder to kill!.

Destroy Jedi captives first. Attack Malak and when you're low on HP just run and heal yourself. Do not be afraid to use stims and force buffs.
This fight is pretty hard but you should be able to defeat him after few tries. If you can't you probably did something wrong with your character build. You can use KSE to edit your character if you're struggling.
Malak was the easiest to beat as soldier / jedi guardian (I had 30 strength). It took me a while to beat him when I was playing scout / jedi sentinel (first time it was a real pain the a*ss). I've never finished the game as a consular so I don't know if it's hard or not.

It REALLY helps to have "drain life" Force power - bring Malak down to <50% health (cinematic, captives unlock), bring him down to ~50% (not lower, otherwise he'll run to heal himself), run across the room draining all captives (you're healed in process), then finish this sith. If you don't, you can destroy them via throw saber (also destroy droid IIRC). Otherwise it's insanely long fight. Other than that just use whatever you have to give yourself an edge (verpine shield, stims, etc.). Force plague also really helps (since Malak's Force resistance is insanely high).

Fairly sure I don't have drain life to be honest and how do I go about destroying the captive jedi? I was trying to do so but couldn't figure it out.

If you have force lightning or saber throw, you can use that to destroy the jedi batteries.

You can also remove the jedi captives from the equation if you have the third (the highest) tier of the Stun Droid force power chain (Stun Droid -> Disable Droid -> Destroy Droid). That and Throw Saber are the only non-darkside abilities that will allow you to do so, otherwise you're forced to fight Malak 9 times.

Force Breach can take out the Jedi captives as well...but you need two points in that.

I was stuck there, too, due to low strength / medium dex.
Was really glad when I realised I never sold all those mines. Made it super-easy :)

If I didn't have at least one tier of super-speed I'd have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥, though.

I just defeated him. After he uses the first Jedi captive, drain the life from them. Next,. I used grenades, thermal detonators, and mines. And run up ahead and place the mines.

Just give him the chance to be what he always was, a female Twilek Dancer, then use your canon and say that her in #2 that you help get job for BEAutiful.

(no joke can do this granted you need to "say" something just before entering so malak doesn't gear up in his war disguise.
