Whooping Gelrood for extra credits on Taris
So, I got bored the other day and decided to see how many times I could beat Gelrood at Pazaak. I know that he has unlimited rounds, unlike Niklos McWhinesAlot in the Upper City Cantina.

Over time, I noticed a strategy that seems to work just about 70 to 80% of the time. Here it is:

Obvious stuff first:
Buy up all the +/- cards, except limit your +/- 6s and 1s to just 2 each. Pad the rest of the deck evenly with -2s and -4s.

Now the strategy:

Anything less than 18 you always end your turn.

18,19,20 always hold.

Do not use any cards unless:

1. Gelrood has used one more card than you already.

2. You have overdrawn and it will return you to 20. (19 if Gelrood has 2 or fewer cards)

3. It is the last match.

4. It is an automatic win (Gelrood holds at 18, you are at 17 with +/-3, play it)

Do Not Waste Cards on Ties unless it is the last match.

If you have a 19 and +/-1 in your hand, hold at 19 unless Gelrood has already held at 19. A 19 generally will force him to use a card to either beat you or tie, and either one is ok so long as it is not the last turn.

So many games start off with Gelrood getting one or two wins only to get wiped out in the long run because he keeps wasting cards trying to tie. Since you constantly bid, even at 17, you will find natural 20s way more often (I think the game has some kind of altered RNG that makes them happen more than they should, especially if you bid aggressively)

So, if you are looking to kill some time at 40 credits a match, you might find yourself with enough spare change to buy that Sith Sniper Rifle from Kebla Yurt you've always questioned the use of.
