Level too fast (CHEATS)
So I guess if you level up too much at the start of the game you end up not being able to use any of your jedi skills.

Is this correct?

If you leveled your first class to lvl 20 before getting any jedi one, yeah, you can't be a jedi unless you roll back some levels

The best you can do is level up when you become jedi. Try to save as many lvls as you can on your main character. just focus on level up your partners

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to subtract the levels you've already used. Is there?

It's not like it really takes that log to get to the academy.

If there is no cheat to set your char's exp. to certain value, you can always edit your save with save editor

i mean you could get kse save editor and revert your level back (though you might need to remove some feats as well) so when you make it to dantooine you can be level 1 and use all stats for the jedi way

Only if you leveled up to 20 on Taris, which I don't even think is possible. But yes, the level cap is 20 across the entire game, and you don't unlock Jedi until Taris is done with. In my current playthrough I stopped leveling at level 3 until I was off Taris and it was fine, and I was still able to complete all side quests. Bendak Starkiller was extremely difficult at that level though.

I have previously done absolutely 100% of everything I could find on Taris, and I just got L9 as I left the planet.

I feel you about that Starkiller fight, did it on L2 once, lots of grenades and gaming the system

L2 Starkiller, Stun Grenades, and Plasma Grenades. Don't forget to Disengage and run around between throws to dodge his grenades as well.
