stuck on tatooine

i'm stuck on tatooine, i just snuck in and talked to the sand people leader, and cant seem to figure out how to resolve this mission without killing the sand people, i dont want to spoil it so i'm not looking at any guides i just want to know if there is a resolution to this quest that doesnt involve killing all the sand people, please and thank yous

There is a way to resolve the situation peacefully and without killing Sand People.

You should tell the Chieftan that you want a peaceful sollution and ask him what he wants in return.

Sneak into the Sand People Enclave wearing their robes. You will be discovered and taken to the Chieftan upon your entry. Like the user before me stated, tell him that you want to find a peaceful solution. (You need to have HK-47 in your party in order to do this, for he will be able to translate between you and the Chieftan. If you do not know where to find him, he is in the droid shop on Tatooine.) The Chieftan is hesitant to believe you but says if you retrieve the moisture vaporators, he will trust you. Leave the Enclave and go to the Czerka Office; talk to Rodian, the seller, and purchase the vaporators; and return to the Enclave. Once you deliver the vaporators, the Chieftan will be thankful and, if I remember correctly, give you his gaffi stick. If you want to prove yourself as a warrior to the Sand People, you can collect a krayt dragon pearl and return it to them. (I forget if this grants you access to talking with their storyteller or if giving them the vaporators already does that.) The Star Map is in its cave. Anyway, you can then ask the Chieftan if he'll release the Jawas, which he will. By retrieving the pearl for the Sand People, you do yourself a favor because you find the Star Map; you can also find it by trying to sneak the Jawas out and fighting your way through the Sand People, but odds are you will probably die a couple of times.

This method, I think, is really the best of both worlds because you create peace with the Sand People, collect the credits for having the Chieftan's gaffi stick, and also get to the Star Map.
