yeah mine does that as well, running it in compatibility mode in win 98/Me will get it to open up but after the character creation the game crashes or it becomes unplayable, i haven been able to figure out a fix
I haven't been able to figure out a fix either, and I've tried everything I could find online. I'm guessing the problem is because it's windows 98/ME and it's optimized for XP. But I don't know how to fix it.
I have not played KOTOR in a long time and I don't currently have it installed, but I don't remember coming across that issue. I also have a different computer now since I made this post. Obviously, I don't know how bad it is, but the worst case scenario is you could continue playing that way anyways.
I'd suggest reinstalling it and ensure you follow the steps in order all over again (not saying you did something wrong, but let's be honest, just because you download/install something doesn't mean it downloaded/installed correctly.)
I know in short I just said "deal with it" but I really don't know the answer lol. Hopefully a redownload helps you. Regardless, I think it would be worth playing even with that relatively small issue because it really is an amazing game.
Good luck.
I've had to reinstall countless things because they didn't install correctly over the years. Granted it's uncommon, but I've had to do it over the years.
Im sure you've probably tried it, but you could try other compatibility modes and/or make the program run as an administrator. Different combinations of things can surprisingly work, which can vary between computers. For example, I don't remember the combination specifically, but I got Diablo 1 running on my Windows 10 computer in like Windows XP compatibility and run as administrator, Which is weird because it should of worked with WIndows 95 and it didn't.
As much of a jackass I might sound, but you could buy a new computer as an upgrade or whenever you can and it may work on a different PC. I know the world is falling apart, but if you have spare cash it might not be a bad idea and your money might help businesses. Your library never changes.
