tricks to combat?
are there any tricks to combat? i just spent like 5 minutes watching canderous miss the guardian droid in the ruins on dantooine (my other 2 died). i have it on the hardest difficulty but still... he literally missed every shot. i had to use grenades to finish the droid off. do things like positioning matter?

my other characters miss a lot as well. i've noticed bastila's flurry attack hit very, very rarely. i must not be doing something right...

The most common issue is trying two use two weapons or a dual melee weapon without having at least the second tier of the two weapon fighting feats. The penalties mean you will miss a lot if you do this.

Don't use the special attacks until lvl 12 to 15 as they have various penalties - flurry comes with a penalty to defence.

Droids usually have energy shields. Ranged characters should use ion weapons, not blasters. Consider equipping melee characters with ordinary melee weapons instead of lightsabers. Open with ion granades and jedi should use the destroy droid or force lightning powers.

Sneak attacking does a great job of dropping those deadly critters. I usually start the game as scoundrel and use mission for ranged or switch to melee if fighting jedi.

Usually my main character will take the front while i have mission run behind them and shoot them. Switch mission to melee if they decide to close. I also have mission take dualing feats so she can actually hit the target.

Go into the menu and switch out the weapon. KotOR 2 added a hotkey to let you switch between 2 sets, but in 1, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way.

As for hitting the enemies, you should make a habit of keeping an eye on the combat log. I think "J" by default brings it up, then just click on the button that toggles between messages and your combat rolls. These show detailed information about how every attack hits and misses. So if you're fighting an enemy with particularly high defense, it may be best to use regular attacks, or a single weapons, or certain items, grenades, or buffs to give your character a better chance to land an attack.

Stimulants and sonic or concussion grenades can be particularly helpful, so don't be afraid to use them if you have them.
