I would agree. After all you can be a consular and still have considerable melee skills if you build it right. Considering he's a soldier too I'd say this makes most sense
Revan was always fascinated by knowledge, always studying. Was one of the characters who most learned force powers, jedi or sith, even the ancient ones.
Let's see:
- knowledgeable
- charismatic
- lots of force powers
- his new jedi lightsaber was green
- his lightsaber form was VI
- he was wise and cunning, not a brute who used straightforward tactics like Malak.
Yeah, you guessed right. He was a consular.
I know this is a necro, and you more than likely don't care anymore but, I want to say my peace. The Star Wars Legends, such as the games and books, are their own canon and even then, it does not matter. Mainly because, fu|ck Disney for making such expansive and vast SW lore into non-canonical territory.
As for what OP means for the canonical version of Revan; they are referring to the books having their own version of Revan built up as oppose to the game having so many options. So, OP wants the info from the books for this canon run instead of playing it through as their own story.
In the Pre disney stuff Luke Skywalker has trips to the dark side and returns to the lightside twice as powerful as before. In the non cannon expanded universe that is Post Episode 6 Luke skywalker becomes a comic book character level of undisputed power in the force.
That movie is plain garbage, btw.
Now this didn't age well now did it
His default character portrait is scout, not soldier. And that image suggests that he was a guardian.

However, he was described as a charismatic individual. So he could have been a consular too.
My thinking:
Scoundrel is too independent a class for Amnesiac Revan. The Jedi Council programmed him with a new identity to keep him under control. They wouldn't want him ignoring orders and running off to do his own thing, (which is what a scoundrel would naturally be inclined to do). Particularly not since that kind of activity in a Jedi can easily lead to the Dark Side. So it doesn't make any sense for the Jedi Council to make him a scoundrel.
However, Soldier is perhaps too inflexible a class for someone of Revan's natural abilities and curiosity. Soldiers are trained to operate in groups and always follow orders. So far, so good, as far as the Jedi Council is concerned, but the more unthinkingly obedient the reprogrammed Revan is, the less he will be able to manage in situations removed from the military command structure, especially if separated from his commander.
I think Scout fits best because it allows for independent operations, and use of own initiative to deal with unexpected situations, while still having military discipline to respond positively to orders from a superior officer.
As for Amnesiac Revan's Jedi class, I think that Sentinel fits Revan the most, because it allows for the most flexibility and the best self defence. Amnesiac Revan as a Sentinel is almost as good a fighter as Juhani, while also being almost as talented with Force powers as Jolee Bindo.
