KOTOR 1 Crashes on windows 10

Hi Guys,
I have the KOTOR 1 that was purchased from here, I tried everything in Youtube and other formus, KOTOR 1 continues to crash all the time at Windows 10, please help.

Hi. Have you set it to windows xp service pack 2 compatibility and turned off hyperthreading and dep?

How exactly do I do that?

Find the KOTOR exe and right click it and check compatibility tab and change for all users. DEP you must Google turn off dep in windows, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 then use command prompt and run the command then restart your computer for it to take effect. A lot of old games won't run in windows 7,8, 8.1 and 10 because of dep. Turning it off enables these games to run. For hytherthreading if you have nvidia card turn it off for the game in the nvidia control panel. Otherwise do it in bios. This only applies if you have an i7 cpu like me not i5.

Also rename the three intro movies which sometimes cause issues.

ok so here is the thing, I played for 4 hours straight and it crashed after that which is an improvement it usually crashes after 5-7 min, if I place all this in the doc. do you thing all will be OK ?

It should be automatic unless you have managed to turn that off (unlikely).

Which area is giving issues? Try play around with soft shadows? I am not sure why it's still crashing for you. I played the whole game with no crashes although I do admit I only play for 45 minutes or so each time. I haven't finished it since installing fall creators update so not sure maybe something changed in windows 10. Will play more today to see.

Try paste the whole thing in there and see what happens. It worked for me and I finished the game a few times with no crashes before. Maybe I got lucky.

Well to be fair every game can crash after 4 hours. The game crashed yesterday after one of the autosafes.

I read grass can cause crashes in the game. Maybe turn that off with framebuffer and soft shadows.

Of the two I had a crash in KOTOR 2 but that seemed to be patched.

Try update the Nvidia driver and see if that also helps.

Once I make my character and hit play it crashes. What would a fix for this be? I copied the ini that's pasted here and it didn't work =/

I just downloaded and when simply click my mouse my computer freaks out and sends me back to my desktop view. First time ive ever had this issue. Im running Windows 10 with gtx 1060. Anyone got any guesses

Does it do that when you try click play? Make sure it's not on hyperthreading or dep is enabled for that. Also try windowed mode.

Mine is AMD R280
