STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

An issue with dialog/cutscenes
I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right, so bear with me. So, you know how during a cutscene, or when having a conversation with a character, the aspect ratio changes (black bars appear on the top and bottom of the screen, the latter of which being where the subtitles appear). Well, I've been having this issue where it doesn't change right away. The black bars don't appear quickly (or at all), and occasionally there's this long pause in the conversation (for example, when you ask Trask how to switch him to the party leader. He gives the first half or so of his explanation, then there's this long pause until the black bars appear, then he finishes. Or when leaving the apartment for the first time, only then you also miss whatever dialog would have appeared at the bottom of the screen until the black bars appear). It doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to occur quite regularly.

Weird thing is, I also have this game installed on a cheap Lenovo ideapad 100s, and I never have this issue on that.

I've tried running it in compatibility mode on the gaming PC I'm currently using, and tinkering with the graphics settings (pretty much setting everything as it is on my laptop), but it doesn't make a difference. Windows version, and game version are the same on both.

I'm not sure if the issue is with my gaming PC (which I'm currenlty trying to play it on), or what. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this?

I had the same problem, but it didn't bother me that much... :P
No idea how to fix it.

Question: What processor and graphics card does your computer have?

- AMD FX(tm)-8300 Eight-Core Processor
- AMD Radeon (TM) R9 380 Series

Out of curiosity, have you installed any mods? I only started seeing this in my game after I created a weapon rebalance mod for it.

The only thing I used was Flawless Widescreen.
Maybe because I played on Win 10?

Thanks. At this point I think the issue is related either to the graphics card or the processor, since that's the only real difference between my two computers

Have you tried disabling the in-game Steam overlay?
It causes crashes for some people and I don't know if it will fix your problem, but you never know... :D

Yes, I did. It didn't help.

Try disabling cutscenes. I don't know if it will remove all of them, because some are important for the story...

Keeping my fingers crossed! :D

That won't help, unfortunately
