Weapon Focus: Melee Weapons

I've tried searching wikis and guides but thus far have came up empty. Does anyone know if this applies to lightsabers as well (because they are melee weapons, afterall) or if it's strictly for swords and other non lightsaber melee weapons?

Logic would dictate that it should apply to lightsabers because they are melee weapons but they do have their own Weapon Focus feat so the Melee Weapons feat may not apply to lightsabers for gameplay reasons. If both feats affect them then you can double up on the + hit for lightsabers and the devs may have wanted to prevent that.

No, the melee weapons feats do not benefit lightsabers, you have to take the lightsaber feats if you want the bonuses for using a lightsaber.

As I suspected. I had already planned on taking the lightsaber feat but was hoping I could double up lol. There's really no point in putting points into the other weaon feats besides lightsabers because once you get them you really shouldn't be using anything else.

Don't waste feat picks on the melee weapons line. I would not make the lightsaber feats a priority either. I concentrate on getting either two weapon fighting or duelling to the third tier - they apply to melee, lightsabers and blasters. Alongside that I take flurry to the third tier also - works for melee and lightsabers. Then I might think about the lightsaber proficiency feats.

Yes I've been playing this game since it came out. I just couldn't remember if melee weapon focus feat affected lightsabers too
