The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

Game won't launch
I downloaded this game a few days ago, played it fine for a couple of hours. Came back the next day to play it, but when I hit play, it brings up a white screen, then just closes every time. I tried reinstalling, verifying the game files, I've run it in admin mode. Please help!

Ich hatte das gleiche Problem nach dem Wechsel des Monitors. Alter Monitor konnte 1920x1200, neuer Moitor kann nur 1920x1080. Im Spiel war 1920x1200 eingestellt.
Abhilfe:
in Settings.ini Eintrag "resolution=1920x1080" eingestellt.
Pfad bei Win7 64-Bit:: "C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\LucasArts\The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition"

That's the fix. It works 100% fine on my pc. You just have to copy the three files mentioned in the guide and run the game.
Sorry if I'm late, but I've just bought it :/

Did anyone get it to work on Windows 10?
yes, It's working fine.

When you launch it for the first time set your desktop resolution at 1024*768 and it will launch. After that set the in-game resolution at your original desktop resolution and play. Next time you launch the game it will work fine without resolution issues

Finally! Thank you... worked perfectly.
I have an ultrawide monitor with the resolution: 2560x1080, but when I checked the settings.ini file in location: C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\LucasArts\The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition, the resolution was set for 2560x1440 and was crashing with a white screen.

Changing the resolution in the settings.ini file to the correct resolution fixed the problem. I can now at least start the game :)
I managed to get it working by setting compatablilty to Windows 95.
I'm having this problem and I don't know what to do. None of the fixes listed here work.

Today I set the compatibility mode to XP SP 3 to fix it on my Win 10 64 bit PC.

I tried that, and I still got the white screen for several seconds and then it shut down.
Old thread, but still a current issue. Running Win10-64, found that there is no settings.ini file in the appdata folder. Found that Geforce Experience wasn't auto-updating my video driver so it was out of date. Had to run the installation file for the update as administrator. Once video drivers were up to date, worked fine.
yes, it was a driver problem at the time, but its been a good number of years since this has been fixed. The problem happened after, within the year of windows 10 being released, and after a newly built nvidia driver was distributed. omg i had my MSI gtx970 gaming z card back then, times flown since, i got an MSI rtx2070 Super.

Did you change monitors or resolution? I bad the same issue. But I had got a new monitor. I had to plug my old monitor back in. Boot the game. Change the res in game. Then switch back to my new monitor. Hope this helps you and anyone else that may come upon it in the future. I was going crazy trying to fix it. :steamhappy:
Setting compatibility mode to Windows 95 worked for me
