Game won't launch

I downloaded this game a few days ago, played it fine for a couple of hours. Came back the next day to play it, but when I hit play, it brings up a white screen, then just closes every time. I tried reinstalling, verifying the game files, I've run it in admin mode. Please help!

yes, It's working fine.

When you launch it for the first time set your desktop resolution at 1024*768 and it will launch. After that set the in-game resolution at your original desktop resolution and play. Next time you launch the game it will work fine without resolution issues

i did for me i just set compatibility mode to windows 95 but i cant alt + tab when i play other wise it come white screen

Hi

Was struggling myself with this for a bit. In the end my fix was to install it to an internal hard drive.

It manifested black screen problems when installed to my external USB hard drive.

played The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition saved the game and tried to play it the next day but the screen turns white with a message saying MISE.exe has stopped working i have tried changing the settings.ini file reinstalling verifiing the game files and everthing else written in the forums but it still wont run

can anyone help

Hi, as Devawarewolf said, set the compatibility mode to windows 95 had resolved the "the white screen problem" for me.

@matt.curt the win95 compat change does NOT fix the problem at all ! on win10 x64bit with MSI nvidia 970GTX Gaming 4GB.

Same for me, win10 x64 and crashes at startup with message "MISE.exe has stopped working".. I read on another thread that it could be the fact that the game is installed in a separate drive. This is my case, i have all my Steam folder in a separated SSD drive.. anyone that could confirm this?

@Yanez it seems that the new Windows 10 Anniversary update has made the game stop working, however I to have my games on another drive, because it has way more space than my C: drive. No one seems to have found a fix yet. The only fix I can think of would be to go back to a previous version of windows, sadly I deleted mine because it took 30 GB of my 100 GB C:

I found the fix!!! It's not the game installed on antoher drive, it's the driver video that has problems. In the Device Manager try disabilng your GPU dirvers and that starts the game.. it worked for me ;)

@Yanez really? would I have to enable and disable it to play other games or what? It's really great that you found the way to fix it though!

this is not good for those who are running dual monitors, the fix will cancel out any external, or 2nd monitor running & will only let the game run on the main monitor, not good for those who want to twitch/youtube stream this game. We need an offical/unofficial fix for this game.

@Jds4562, I agree but it still is possible to record, you just can't see whether or not it is recording or not. or if you are like me, I use OBS Studio whith a plugin that makes a noise when it starts/stops recording. unless that cancels out other applications, it should still work, just it is more inconvienent

Yeah, is quite annoyng that you have to diable/enable your video card driver everytime you want to play, but it works.
