Is this supposed to happen? help?
I gave all the banana's to the monkey and he started to follow me around, but then I went to the cannibal village. Somehow the monkey is stuck up on the top half of the island now, near the cannibal village, and I cannot get him back down so that I can get into the giant monkey head. Anyone know how to fix this? thanks

How many bananas did you give him? If you give him x amount he will follow you, but not all the way. Once you give him all the bananas he shouldn't lose interest until he does his designated task. This is from memory. It could be a bug, but I don't think so.

I'm going to say that its probably a glitch because now the monkey is completely stuck on the beach near the Cannibals Village. I don't know how it got up there in the first place, it won't even follow me at all anymore. When I go to the place with the giant monkey head, the monkey isn't there sadly

You could be right, but you didn't answer my question. How many bananas. All of this is from memory, but I believe you need 5 bananas. If you only give the monkey 3 as an example, he will follow you, but will lose interest and then you have to feed him another banana. If you give him all 5 then he should follow you all the way to the monkey head. If you gave him 5 then it might be a glitch (remember I'm not 100% on if 5 is the magic number, if someone else could confirm that would be great).

Sorry I'll try to be a bit more clear. I gave him all 5 bananas and he started to follow me, but I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do next and I took the boat up to the Cannibal Village. The monkey was not with me at this point because it can't get in the boat. I entered the Cannibal Village and tried to see if there was anything I could do but there wasn't. I believe that I saved and quit around this point. When I reloaded the game, I left the Cannibal Village and the monkey was waiting for me outside the village on the northern part of the island. I then took the boat back to the other part of the island, but now the monkey is stuck in the northern part. Specifically now, he doesn't even follow move anymore and is stuck next to the beach. So yeah I'm definitely going to say that this is a glitch and unfortunatly I saved the game so that I can't go back. Thank you guys for trying to help me, but I guess I'll just be giving up on the game for a whille until I feel like starting it over

Yeah that sounds like a glitch to me. Is there any way to interact with the monkey now? Anyway to get it to glitch back to the other side of the island? Have you tried switching between classic and modern? Anyway, sorry we couldn't be more helpful. On the bright side of things, you get to replay an amazing game! :steamhappy:

So, it isn't a glitch. The monkey appears on the Western beach just south of the crater if you take the boat after you give him the bananas. The obscurity of this game sometimes, man.

When you find him does he start to follow you again?

I just ran into this problem myself and hoenstly I think it's a game breaking bug. If you get the monkey to teleport to the side of the island where the cannibal village is before you do whatever at the clearing you can't get him back. He's stuck on the beach. This is really frustrating and I don't want to start the whole game over. (before the waaah waaah you don't own the game talk I'm playing the gog version) Google is zero help either.

Yeah I think its game breaking and I never ended up finding a solution or starting over which is disapointing because I was so close to finishing the game and never moved on to the 2nd game

Same. I beat the game yesterday by just starting over. Luckily the game is so short (about 2 hours if you know exactly what youre doing) so it wasn't too annoying but most def a game breaking bug. The thing you have to do with the monkey isn't even on the side of the island so the fact that we got him on that side is the first bug. Shame this isn't talked about more let alone fixed

The monkey keeps glitching in the water, it stops moving, and I try to reload, go back and forward but it again just stops, and swims in the one area. How do I get this little a.H f*ing pr**k to move for the love of AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Nevermind I just came going back and forward and clicking the mouse like mad and bit by bit he just started moving. My god that was annoying lol

Same happens to me, I was stuck for two days, and I fear that I will need to start again. A bug in 2018 and still happening!

I'm currently replaying the game ( as I had previously played the CD-ROM version ), What happened is that I went to Toothrot's fort the volcanic crater while the monkey was following, the monkey didn't show up in the fort but for some reason stopped following me and got stuck. After that I went to the other part of the island to explore the side of the crater, was was surprised that the monkey followed from there! seems like a bug as the monkey is essential to solve a puzzle in the southern part of the island
