Hellzone Grenade
Hey there, I've been watching gameplay movies for ages now and in a bunch of them Hellzone Grenade is abused to hell.
In case anyone doesn't know what attack I am talking about, it's the one where you spam a bunch of small energy balls around your target and then make all of em come to your opponent at the same time ( Picollo move that was used against android 17 ).

I know other moves can do devastating damage as well but most seem to at least take some setup to properly hit because anyone with the slightest bit of reaction speed will casually dodge a medium/long range kamehameha. Hellzone Grenade on the other hand I have not yet seen dodged so far, your character seems to be forced in some silly animation where it looks around him while the ki-blasts strike at his body.

I was wondering if any Network Test players have found a way to counter it, I have some ideas in my head like instant transmission or an aoe explosion to counter the small ki-blasts in the same way how most melee rushes in Tenkaichi could easily be countered that way however I have not had the chance to personally try this out and seeing how everyone kept getting hit by Hellzone Grenade in the clips I saw makes me wonder if those people are just kinda stupid or it's really impossible to get out of. If it's the latter then that would be a real shame since even if it clearly does less damage than for example Special Beam Cannon, if it's a 100% hit rate then it's going to be spammed so much by newbies so that will be pretty annoying.

In the past games, pretty sure i flew quickly out of hellzone grenade to avoid most if not all the hits. There was a certain timing you needed to do, i think, to get it to hit decently. Really don't recall it being OP.

From what i been hearing is that they do plan to support the game with patches (fixes, balancing, etc). I don't believe i've heard anyone bring up something that is broken and op, except in past games.

From what i seen in Xenoverse, there shouldn't be any halting images. This is all because of there being no beam struggles due to multiplay. It would totally retarded to have someone LOCK you with a hellzone grenade (he probably become untouchable) and his buddy or buddies beating the crap out of you or throwing sure hit special attacks.

Just thinking alone on hellzone locking an opponent and having your buddies throw sure hit kamehameha's... .. game would be some serious fail if this slippled (and probably take a month or more to patch as it becomes the most abused thing).

I completely agree on all your points Vexov, which is why what I saw worried me because characters are really forcibly looking around to the ki-blasts around them so it does lock them in place. It however might not be for the full duration but it still is a CC with build in decent damage. Obviously something like solar flare is also a CC but Hellzone Grenade seems to be able to be fired from a longer range and has the additional damage.

So yeah, really hoping someone that played the Network Test could answer about these concerns. If it's only a miniscule short crowd control that still allows you to escape the explosions then sure that sounds fine to me but no skill should be an easy auto-aim not dodge-able skill with build in crowd control.

Also to Vexov, I also haven't heard much talk about things being ridiculously OP but Network Test was pretty short so I have to wonder how many testers seriously compared the available skills in how functional they are instead of just how pretty they are and trying out custom characters. xD

I've seen Hellzone Grenade exactly once, when it was used against me, and I just sort of accidentally flash stepped around Piccolo and dodged it. I only knew what happened because I still played the 'scared' animation after I dodged and because I watched the DBZ Abridged episode with the Hellzone Grenade yesterday :v

Hellzone Grenade is a stun move, yes. Once they're hit by it, they're trapped. However, while you can not dodge it, you can block it. If you hit the guard button just as the animation ends you'll move into a guard stance. It's pretty easy to do once you figure out how.

Guarding doesn't really work since they hit behind you too. In one of the videos on this site they do as the guy above did and step out of it. EDIT: actually I think that was Nappa's attack I was thinking of.

Use an evasive skill that moves you out of the way. It's about the only think I know that works. High Tension Turn is a great one, because not only does it move you out of the line of fire, you also smash the enemy and send them flying.
