What's with the J?
We are not Japanese, so why do we still refer to the transformation as SSJ?

For those who are not aware, the J stands for Jin. When you say SSJ, it is pronounced Super Saiya-jin. Yes, the N is not present in Saiyan, I don't know why.

Jin is the word for "people" in Japanese. So when you call them Super Saiya-jin, you are calling them Super Saiya-people. Earthlings would be called Earth-jin, or Earth-people, to provide another example.

We should be calling them SS, for Super Saiyans

Coincidentally, the Waffen SS were the elite branch of the Nazi forces. Nazis greatly valued the trait of blond hair and blue eyes. Super Saiyan gives you blond hair and blue eyes.

Super Saiyans are Nazis.

Except for the fact that SSJ makes your hair golden (aura) or yellow (base) and not blonde. Also, SSJ makes your eyes green and not blue. How does it always come back to the Nazis...?

Wait... Why does any of this matter? Oh, it doesn't...
In a thread about calling SSJs, "SS", how could it not come back to Nazis?

Super Saiyan Jew

Goku and Vegeta are Jewish. That's why the Nazis were attacking their kids.

I refer to Saiyans as Saiya-jin and I prefer to call them Saiya-jin. I know Jin means people in japanese. I also actually prefer to call Namekians Namek-jin. Btw, Majin is translated to Devil.

And I also still prefer to refer to Super Saiyans as Super Saiya-jin and there's nothing you can do to make me and probably a few other people to stop doing that.

I know, it annoys me that buu's race is called Majin especially since in DBZ it was used to refer to anyone under Babadi's control.

It was SSJ for a long time and it'll stay as SSJ till end of its time.

If you're gonna use SS instead of SSJ, you better use God instead of Kami.
I've always called it SS or super saiyan, or just "saiyan" as a bad habit of mine. It doesn't really matter what you call it tho, everyone knows what you are talking about.

Perhaps because the world doesn't revolve around Nazis and they haven't been relevant in over 70 years?

SSJ. SS. It's all the same. Nobody cares what you call them. I don't know why the OP is so bothered to start.

Meh, gives you blue-green eyes really. To me, it always looked blue.
Well... I typically consider them blue, taking into account the green comes from the yellow aura. Blue+ yellow= green. Seems to make sense..?

I grew up calling it Super Saiyan X (not jin) and referring to it as SSJX

So it's just a habit. I couldn't care less about the history behind it.

This isn't true either. Lets look at a screenshot to prove SSJ Goku's eyes are in fact green without his yellow aura:

The only SSJ transformation that comes to mind with clearly blue eyes is SSJ4 Gogeta. He isn't even applicable to this discussion given that his hair is fiery red as well.

More than likely Funimation thought Super Saiya-jin was redundant, as clearly a Saiyan is a person. Some things are just implied in English without having to explicitly suggest what something is.

SSJ or Rito
