The easiest fix is probably to abandon the quest and then go grab it again. Alternatively you could try to find another charm by killing monsters (takes lotsa time) or asking in the area chat for one (unless it's a quest-specific item, but if my memory serves me right it's just a standard whatchamacallit offensive charm 1).

Also, to use it properly, just right click it in your inventory when you are close to a campfire.

Same thing here, except I sold the charm or something. For an item like this so critical for a quest you need to complete in order to progress, you'd think it would at least be available on a nearby vendor or marked as a quest item. Not having one just stops your entire quest chain dead in its tracks, which is maybe a little shameful for a level 4 quest design in an MMO that's been out for more than 3 years. :/

Probably the best solution is to already have another character that can buy one from somewhere and put it in the bank, since the banker is right next to the quest NPC for this. This should absolutely get fixed.

Given how you right click on items in your inventory to use them, what made you assume that you had to drag the charm?

You also should have been given a prompt that you were about to discard the item. Don't you people read what's on screen? I understand not wanting to read too much considering how many quests there are in total, but when it's the bloody tutorial, you read it.

You don't need to burn your own charm to complete the quest. You can just hang around the quest-giver NPC until someone else comes along and stand near the fire when they burn theirs to get credit.

But it still says "do you want to discard this item?" (or something like that) when you drag it out of your inventory, silly :tera_derp::trolol:
