Network stability/desync issues
Hello,

While playing some rounds of Vagante online with people, I found the game consistently had issues with stability over a network connection. These ranged from minor to gamebreaking (including inexplicable crashes seemingly due to network issues).

The most prevalent problem was some kind of position/state desync issue where one player would see another player's character flickering into odd positions in the map, seemingly because the game thought their character was someplace else. This happened as often as every second game out of 10 or 15 attempts, if not more. Part of the same issue was that some players could not pick up or interact with items that others could, and in some cases the shopkeeper wouldn't render graphically even though I could still interact with him.

Most other problems stemmed from that, but generally a group of 2 or 3 people couldn't reach floor 3 purely because some kind of network problem would occur; either players got dropped from the game (despite reasonable pings) or the game itself suddenly crashed. This contrasts to pretty stable performance in singleplayer.

I was mostly playing the Linux build through Steam, if that helps.

Thanks for your work on this game, I've enjoyed playing it so far; but please put some more polish into the network code, that part of the game really doesn't seem like it's ready for release, compared to the rest of it. Cheers.

I'm encountering this as well. I'm also on Linux. There are several threads here about network desync, and the consensus is that it's a cross platform issue. This was one of my favorite games while it was in EA, but multiplayer is too unstable to enjoy with my friends now.

I've attempted to reach out to the team on Twitter with no response. I haven't tried Discord yet.

This would really get some more play if network multiplayer was stable.
Correct, this "teleglitching" happens all the time when playing network games using the Linux version (1.011.3).

Big necro, but just to say that playing under Proton completely fixes this glitching.
