[Spoiler] Is this method of stealing from shops supposed to be so reliable?

Sorry for the vague title, wanted to keep spoilers out of it. It's in reference to Wall Phasing. It seems shopkeepers won't notice you trying to steal from shops if the door isn't open, so if you equip gloves with Wall Phasing, you can just phase through the door, take all the items, and phase back out, acting nonchalant with your pockets full of loot. And since you didn't aggro the shopkeeper, you can do it again on every subsequent level. It's not a big deal later in the game, when you could probably buy out the shop anyway, but finding a Wall Phasing item early on can help a ton if you get good shops.

Presumably you can also do this with Blink, although I haven't tried.

After a certain amount of time, the shop keeper WILL notice that his items are gone, cause sometimes he randomly will go into his shop to check on his stuff.

I've stolen stuff with wall phasing only later to be krept up on during my run by a pissed off shopkeeper who didn't see me take the stuff.

Interesting. I just did it seven times in one run (found Wall Phasing gloves right away, died before finding the shop on floor 8) without aggro'ing the shopkeepers. I guess I just got lucky, then.

Yep it's very easy to steal items from the shop right now, there are many ways to do so with no repercussions. This just might change in the near future.

Agreed... shopkeepers go back to look at their stock from time to time. If things are missing, you will see his dialogue bubble turn "..." and he will aggro you if he sees you.

I used wand of digging to make a path underneath and behind the store; took items unseen, but had enmity anyway.

You can 'test' to see if you really didn't aggro the shopkeepr by walking up to him after you have taken the items.
