Alchemy recipes?
Are there any set recipes for making potions with alchemy? I'm wondering what if there is a more direct way of making potions of regeneration and other things.

Nope... pure random. Alchemy is easily the worst attribute line in the game. Even with 100% chance of all of the effects:

Identity all potions
Combine two potions to a potion of your choosing
100% chance to double effect
100% chance to drink the potion twice (no more than twice)

I still wouldn't take it. It just doesn't give you enough for the levels required to get anything even close to resembling good. For a game with a pure combat focus, a psuedo crafting line with minor consumable improvements to a consumable that isn't common enough to give you the effects of the improvement more then once or twice a run, seems more than useless.

What does double effect mean for potions? For regeneration that seems to suggest double the amount of healing. Does it also double the duration of buffs, making them last two levels instead of one?

Also having 4 times the effective amount of healing from potions (double duration and using each potion twice) might be interesting...

One of the higher level effects of Alchemy is something like "10% chance to double a potion" or something.... which is horrible for an entire level point.

It applies any buff twice (as if you drank it twice)

2x strength
2x defense
2x poison
2x regen
featherfall should have no effect
etc

first sry my bad english.
if I remember correctly and if they have not changed was lvl3 and enhanced effects were at100 % of the time (at least , with the healing , I'm sure ) . and if you 're referring to was lvl2 combine potions, but is truth some level of alchemy should have some additional effects , such as identifying automatically scrolls or wands .

A common effect that my friends and I were talking about was the ability to convert a potion into a one-off thowing weapon instead of combining them.

So hitting Y (magic) on a potion would convert it into a negative effect, and it would become a throwing weapon. So Strength potion could become a Weaken Flask, Speed Potion would become a Slow Flask, Regen Potion would become a Regen Flask (okay they wouldn't all be bad), Poison.. Poison Flask... etc etc... these would then be thrown for a small Area of Effect attack. This would be so much more useful than combining for a random new potion.

Hmm, 2x regen could be interesting. That could heal 60 HP if my math is correct. But too bad about the 10% chance. That's pretty low for a tier 4 skill.

I don't remember exactly what the numbers were, I haven't looked at it recently due to how bad it was.
