How to pick up girls... and boxes.
Am I the only one who don't like the 2 weeks old "pick up" mechanic? If you see a fairy you can pick her up with holding the DOWN button + SHIFT. This requires some time and feels clunky in my opinion.
We used to pick her up with just by pressing DOWN once. Interacting with the shopkeeper and statues used to be simpeler with the UP key, instead of the SHIFT key that we are using today. I have tried to get used to it, but I still like the old ways better. By just pressing UP instead of SHIFT to interact and DOWN once instead of DOWN + SHIFT to pick up.

I understand that this will may over rule certain skills in the future, but this never bothered me.

Yes, I agree. Honestly one of the things I absolutely loved about Vagante's controls was the Pressing Down/Up for interacting. It makes sense to remove most of those directions for things like Block, and the new Spell system, but I feel like Block and the new spells system should be the ones to change. Interact buttons stink.

Yes, it is often the case where picking up girls is a very clunky and emotionally harrowing process.

hmmm see I must have missed where it told me I needed to use two buttons. I had 4 playthroughs where I couldn't pickup boxes or the fairy and got very confused. binding it to the down button really never got in the way of anything and I prefered it. There have been multiple instances where grabbing the fairy in between a mess of mobs and just making it to the exit saved a playthrough for me. Currently the button change has lowered my confidence level in being able to pick something up in a split second.

It was just intuitive, up to open, down to pick up, there was even a small tooltip that made it really simple because it didn't give me button names, just up or down.

Same here, but I figured it out after 2 runs

I will note though... shopkeep was always confusing... interact button probably helped him.

Has anyone tried binding interact to down? Just had that thought sitting here. Anyway I really would like to see the old pick up mechanic at least becaause like what was said being able to grab stuff fast was tight.

Me and my friends always end up beating bosses like golem by throwin a bunch of boxes at him. It was way easier before to do cool looking box throwing tricks before.

Only the Knight Block. Since the new Spellcasting system requires to hold down the cast button. This will overrule the "pick up" mechanic. But the block issue never bothered me.

yeah, Even though it uses the same keys for the most part you never run into much of an issue, unless your fighting near a box and accidentally pick it up. I've had that happen a couple of times but never in a way that made me annoyed with the binding. I kinda wished that the box acted like a shield while I was holding it.

It mainly happens to me around Bat Corpses... I kill 6 bats in one area and suddenly I can't block anymore... the block skill has been replaced with the "throw harmless bat corpse" skill.
