You have to drop items before they are cursed onto the statue
- If they do not get cursed you just put them on and see what stats they have;
- If they do get god cursed you identify them and decide if it's worth using them for the whole run as they can not be uncursed and removed.
I haven't really tried to give books to the Scholar as it's usually more useful to learn them, so I can't really say if it's better to try and get a random spellbook by giving him scrolls and useless books or by destroying the shrine, as of now it looks like the latter is the better option.
I game him a ton of scrolls/books once, not a thing happened.
Now the shackled if you really want to min/max get your favorite items (life steal, coins heal, death protection) ect that are strongly enchanted and unequip them.
Destroy the altar.
Now all items are cursed, you can wear some of your garbage items and use a scroll of uncurse.
Hold onto the cursed 'good' items. A level or two later you can use them on another the shackled shrine for some beefy new equipment. Amulets of death protection are an obvious choice.
Basically five scrolls are worth one book, and you have to sacrifice two books at base to get a random book.
However, smashing the statue increases the price of a payout, BUT gives you a free random spell book. However, if it stays alive you can cycle through like, 3-4 books if you have enough scrolls, greatly increaseing the odds of favourable books.
Only things I'm not sure of is the cost increase of smashing, and the odds of getting a book you just put in back. I will do more testing.
