Best Character?
Ok, so this is a loaded question, because I mad dig how balanced Vagante is, and I find myself having about the same amount of fun and making the same amount of progress (if slightly more each time) regardless of the class and skills I choose. Still, each class is definitely a different experience, and each skill tree within them radically alters that experience even further.

So, I'm curious. In you guys' opinions, what is the "best" class and build? Which one do you go for when you're aiming for your best run yet, or which do you simply find easiest to win with?

So far, despite my preference for the dagger-tree Rogue's overall vibe, I've tended to perform best as an enchantment-focused Mage, and as of this last update I made my best run yet with a pet bond/offense Ranger.

How 'bout you?

Wildling is objectively the most OP character in the entire game, with the mage being a close second. Ranger is probably third best, then knight and rogue. Rogue is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worthless rn, it makes me so sad.

The strongest class/build is pretty much just wildling with berserk and fists maxed.

My go-to in OMP is alchemy 1, enchant 3, alchemy 2 and then spellcaster/int, dex (for axes) or rod(rarely because it feels very cheesy), depending on the equipment/spells I found.

Mage is great on coop, enchant and alchemy are really useful, definitely my favorite class. Also we finally have a class (ranger) that doesn't struggle againt the abomination boss, thank to the doggy.

The combo I have the easiest time with is Mage w/ bookworm (so I can learn useful spells at a useful level), where first I max Alchemy so I can make and use buff potions/regens to their fullest effect early on, then max Enchant so I can start dealing mad damage with an axe/bow, then max Rod so I can do super mad damage with a spacer/wave rod.

But I've been really having fun with the Ranger! Still trying to figure out the best combo of things that works for me - I'm definitely dedicated to Pet Utility first, and then I guess Pet Bond, but not sure what to do after that. I throw doggo so much that he hardly has time to attack, so the lunge stuff isn't super important, but maybe I have to learn to throw him less and let him do his thing. Also I use Experienced just so I can call him fast from the getgo.

Have you not seen how they can dodge pretty much everything and cheese bosses with dagger throw? They're also great for robbing shops.

anyway...
I main rogue, and I usually go for acrobatics 1, then dagger 3, then back to acrobatics 4. after that, I just level up luck. Rogue can get two easy hits in with the dagger mastery skill from dagger 3, while dodging mostly everything with acrobatics 1. Even if you fail to time the roll, you still have a 33% chance of evading physical attacks + the evasion you get from luck.

As someone who mained rogue for over 150 hours, yeah, I do know that. But I also know how strong every other character is, and I know how useless rogue is in comparison. His damage is hella inconsistent. The only form of consistent damage he has in his entire kit is dagger, but it does barely any damage. Evade rogue is literally an RNG based way to play, thus also being inconsistent. The character is garbage because he has no consistent way to be viable, unlike literally every other character.

Rogue with max bow skill is really good in the crypt area, and solid in forest, but the floating islands really suck for bouncing your shots.

I don't care what is the best character...
Knight only run with maxed Holy tree (aka Holy Crusade) is still the best! :D

I'm trying out some builds for my girlfriend. I found the rogue so damn good. It's almost overpowered with good equipment. I'm rushing archery and then dext. I'm using an axe and a bow or crossbow. The damage is very nice and he's a very versatile and safe character to play.

I can't fathom how anyone can think rogue is a good character rn compared to literally any other class. And I say that as a someone who mained rogue for quite a bit of time.

Well. It could be a matter of perspective, I guess. The gameplay changes drastically depending on your build. Even for the same final build, the order you distribute points makes the gameplay completely change. In my opinion, the rogue with the archer build is so versatile that hurts. With the combination of force, angle and bouce, you can hit almost any enemy anywhere. This gives you a huge advantage in terms of safe play. For close range situations he's very good too. After the third point in dext, he becomes very agile with the axe and, after the last point, the damage is very nice. Also, there's the matter of your gameplay style. Me and my girlfriend, for example, we like to play safe and clean everything. Just survive to the end. But if you have a speedrun style, then it's something completely different. I don't know. The ranger is cool, but in my view he lacks a skill tree with bow or crossbow. He's a ranger afterall. I can't see the hype on the wizard, for example, but maybe I'm playing the "wrong" build with him. Do you know what a mean? Sorry about the English.
