What's the effect of Splash Attack on unique items?

I've come across serval unique weapons with a purple property naming "Splash Attack", and found nothing special about it. So does anyone know something about it?

Splash attack does a fraction of the initial damage to enemies adjacent to the first enemies hit by the weapon.

Thanks, so splash attack just do more damage to emeny. I wonder the fraction of the initial damage is per enemy based, or just the first hit damage to the first enemy?

Imagine you are fighting two enemies standing in a line. You hit the first one and deal full damage to him but don't hit the second one. If are using a splash attack weapon a tiny fraction of the damage (i think like 10% or 20%) splashes over to the second one.

It's normally weak early on, but it's strong versus the Worm boss. Also, weapons with Splash attack tend to have higher stats due to being artifacts.
