You can play the game on easy if you want a more relaxed experience. Never tried easy difficulty, it must be quite boring...
Long answer; Also yes, but longer.
Start up an endless game in serenity mode, set the difficulty to whatever you want between Medium and Easy and finally I'd recommend The Flats map because it comes with plenty of room to build into.
While you will still need to learn the odd system on how the game works, for the most part all you will have to do is gather resources and then build stuff with them.
Then just research the Beacon, get some scouts out there and any people shortages you have will go away soon enough.
Can I play it again and again start over, while every time the results are different?
If that's the sort of thing you are looking for, Cliff Empire might be a better choice honestly.
