In Van's editor, there is a link to a Chinese site, which is very helpful for beginners (use the web archive because the site is dead). If you start modding as well, feel free to ask for any help. It's always good to have someone else interested in modding too. Perhaps you will find something that I missed.
I have a long experience (since 2006 until now) with the editor of van especialy of japanese pc edition dynasty warriors 5 and dynasty warriors 7(the first version not DX), also musou orochi and musou orochi Z and sengoku musou 2(but i have not your level of edit for the 8 and 8 empires), i have edit only few value in dynasty wwarriors 9 empires too but not hard edit of linkdata of the game.
I knew and used the old "asx trainer era" of dynasty warriors 4 5 and 6, the only two japanese/chinese save editor of dynasty warriors 4 and the special aggressive computer mod, the special editor in addition of van editor to extra edit completely the bodyguard in dynasty warriors 5.
The van website not work anymore? in 2023 the website working, thanks for the tips for way back machine. (I have already a large copy of many editor of van).
Do you have a discord or do you accept steam vocal disscution?, it's a pleasure to discuss modding with you.
I just wanted to drop by to say that i have been trying the mod out recently and it's really improved my experience with the game, and wanted to thank Tau for all the invested time and effort, i've been coming back to DW8E recently and this makes it a lot more exciting for me to play
There have been some things i have been wondering about when it comes to the DW8E version of the mod, or rather, modding DW8E in general, i hope you don't mind me asking here:
1. i would love to be able to have multiple favourite weapons for a CAW, of course, i doubt you can code an extra slot into the UI or something in Edit Mode, but i was wondering, would it technically be possible to change the values of one of the regular slots(like Xiahou Dun's podao) to enable EX attacks with all weapons in the game, even if it shows only one weapon as EX? I don't really expect this to work but i figured i could ask
2. i liked Extreme Mod's idea of having a raw EX attack activations, since it opens new combo routes and ways to interact with the game in a battle, since you could take the cheer animation and put it on block+switch+musou, i was wondering if you could technically take the EX moves and put them on a combination of buttons? like switch+light attack = EX1, and switch+heavy attack = EX2(kind of how more modern musou games use R1+something for extra abilities/skills/moves/whatever), which would open up more ways to play, and especially help characters that rely more on EX attack for some reason(bad hitboxes, slower attack speed, whatever), i guess switch+jump could also be something, but no idea what i would put there from what the game offers
3. allowing whirlwind characters to cancel recovery(or potentially start up and active) animation frames into blocking - this is an idea that was present in Warriors Orochi 4, where characters representing the "heavy" class were able to cancel the frames of an attack by guarding, which i think is something that would really benefit them in this game with all the iframes and hyper armours of enemy musou and EX attacks the mod introduces, which, compared to other characters, they don't have way to maneuver around while they are in an active animation, making some of them high-risk, low-reward characters/movesets to play, especially when late game hits
also, i am not sure if it's intentional, but when you hold down the block button and release it, the player character does their sprint attack, which i thought was an interesting way of going from being pushed on defence to go back on offence, kind of like guard cancelling in a fighting game
Anyway, once again, whether you think any of the suggestions are a good idea or not, it was fun to write out, and it's nice to talk about one of my favorite games of all time, since this mode has breathed new life into it, hope everything goes well!
It is a core optimization mechanic that originated from consoles. It can't be fixed.
Thanks for the suggestions.
1. Unfortunately, core elements like that can't be changed.
2. I've considered it; in my mod, I try not to alter the original gameplay. Providing the EX attack for free would break the game balance, and offering it for the cost of '1 Musou gauge' would be too expensive. The EX attack will only be given to AI opponents for added difficulty.
3. The same response as in 1.
4. The inclusion of the 'Rush attack' after blocking was intentional. It serves as a technical solution that only the mod maker will understand. I considered removing it, but doing so would compromise half of the mod.
Version 4.0 is currently in development. If you have any ideas, I would like to hear them, especially regarding how to nerf weapon damage.
Like increasing likelyhoods of Enemies invading etc
Or are changes tied to 'in battle' only?
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the 'empire mode'.
I don't think it's too much
Everything is still easy enough even with the 'higher' reduced damage option
Though I can't speak for 'early' game balance , it's fine on the highest difficulty for high level characters
The AI literally carried my noob-ass lmfao
This mod is awesome, it's so hilariously chaotic.
I equipped all of the most broken items (HP-recovery and Musou Recovery, Temper Stratagem as well as the recovery turret, fire attack and Wind Altar too to make sure my spirit gauge stays afloat), and I still felt incredibly useless and died a trillion times (prompting me to idle until my unit count recovered a little).
I pretty much just stood there all the time trying to block all the ♥♥♥♥ flying at me and kiting the enemy officers around, while my AI allies spammed them to death xD
I only got 2 kills xD
It really felt like everybody else was the player and I was the bot just trying to block the incoming spam haha
10/10 mod, will keep it installed if my CPU can handle it reliably enough.
If someone has an exact proposal to change something, I will be glad to hear it.
That said, I'm having issues trying to find more info about EX Mod I installed it but I can't find any scenario whatsoever
My questions are
Can I play this mod along EX mod?
and
Do I necessarily need ALL edit parts for EX mod and this to work on my game?
Thank you so much and once again so grateful for finding this :D
