What exacly is the story to this game?
Spoilers for anyone who hasn't played, or finished the game. Being that the game is to short, I decided to watch a "walkthrough" on the game. After finishing, the plot seems to be comfusing, can anyone help process the plot?

There is no plot, no nothing, just killing red guys.

The story (as far as I can tell)

(HEAVY Spoilers ahead)

you play as a hacker who his "friend" gives you a Crack to SUPERHOT, you play it and you begin to slowly get addicted to it until the system teaches you a lesson, aka hitting you in the head. the system then tells you to get help from the head trauma and pushes you out (Ala exit the actual game you ignore the advice and keep playing and you slowly become one with the program, busting into a lab and hot switching yourself into the core. And then to fully connect you have to shoot yourself in the head to remove the body. The game then tells you to spread the game around and give it more pepole like how the friend did in the start. The end.

Far from the end. After that "ending" you're cracking the system to get more knowledge about it.

But sure, you can define the "ending" by whatever criteria you set. Go ahead, tell me the game ends after you kill the first Red Dude. Then I must agree, it's far too short!

There's more story to what pinfox said, though I have to make full sense of it yet. Further spoilers ahead:

You can get a rapidly-scrolled EULA of Superhot.exe in the game, but I recommend googling "Superhot secret eula" for a clear image list. Keep in mind that everything that is not in the EULA is just me making assumptions.

SUPERHOT is the creation of a self-conscious super AI which wants to escape the network it is contained in. It cannot be deleted because it disabled all the systems that could do so, and if left unchecked for a few minutes it could break out and... turn into a singularity or something, that part is unclear. But if the AI were to break out human life would end, so it must be contained.

SUPERHOT was created by the AI as a means to escape the network. But the trick is that so long as a minimum number of players are "challenging" the game by fighting against the red guys they are hogging resources from SUPERHOT, so that it cannot use those resources on escaping the system. So, as long as players are playing superhot.exe, everything is okay. As soon as the players playing drop below a minimum, the AI will be able to escape.

The "system", which I presume are the original creators who are now fighting SUPERHOT, are using the players to essentially give their bodies up to play forever. By uploading their minds to the Core they cannot be kicked out of the system anymore, and can play forever after cutting the ties to their body by killing it.

Someone tries to discourage the player from playing, I presume that this is the AI trying to keep the player from playing the game and hogging up resources. On the other side there's the "System" who lure others in to get superhot.exe and spread it around to get more players to play it, thus keeping SUPERHOT from escaping. They take a very extreme approach to this by turning players into part of the system, since the fate of the world depends on it.

Remember how you get "Access Denied" repeatedly when uploading yourself to the Core? I believe that it's the AI trying to keep you out. Same with when you are made to attack yourself and the "Red text" tells you to go seek medical attention. It you off the computer, not playing anymore. Not taking resources.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, the Superhot story is pretty wild if you get into it a little :steamhappy: Just keep in mind that part of that is my speculation, not all of it is really confirmed.

There's also an easter egg by the way where someone mentions the real-world superhot game website, and the system remarks that it's a ripoff from the game (the one in the story).

I think that the "Red dudes" are AI components that are meant to represent the enemies in superhot.exe (the game), they are instances of the SUPERHOT AI which you challenge in endless gameplay. Why you are a red dude yourself, I have no idea.

Also the hotswitch, your ability to instantly switch into the body of another Red Dude, is the game's way of telling you that you are getting more and more "disconnected" from your original body and that they become temporary, disposable vessels. You stop being a human, you become data which can be uploaded to any storage. Or into bodies, in this case.

Actually, There are several different randomly generated sections of "the truth" section of the rapidly scrolling EULA that each tell a different story. Sorry for those who I just ruined their one story for.

Woah, this is even more amazing :o Thanks for sharing that!
On the scale of Originazism, i would give this game 11 out of 10, the game is all but unoriginal. But you are missing the vital piece of story, that i couldn't understand and what made me find this. First. What is SUPERHOT.exe, is it real? As you clearly punch and shoot yourelf. Does this mean that you someone though the game have an ability to take over beings or it's just simulation and emulation of pain in your brain caused by the VR head gear? And second What's the story of Gurugroup chat?
