From that you can unlock the rest of the game. There is easily 30+ hours of content.
You mean killing same mobs again and again at same maps? sorry, i never play challanges at all when they are over same content. I would love to see more story or longer maps in story at least..
Yup. I tend to agree. A little too short for the asking price. Although you CAN get SH for less than $20.00 CAD on alternate web sites. Food for thought. :)
SUPERHOT has a decent story, but the story is not the reason to play SUPERHOT. You play it like you would any other puzzler - for the gameplay.
Look, the game is all about mechanics - you didn't buy it because you wanted to shoot crystal people. You bought it because it's the most innovative shooter you've played in years :D
Based on that, if you change the mechanics, you get more of what you wanted - several more innovative shooters, played on surprisingly similar maps and looking curiously similar (except 2), but more of what you wanted - doing all kinds of stuff than other shooters provide!
(I certainly do hope they release a free update with more content, I don't think I can ever pass that challenge so it's game over for me :/)
PS. I consider the end of story mode to be cracking all the levels plus witnessing you-know-what gets unlocked then. And that took me around 6 hours (with a small bit of Tree Dude record beating).
PPS. +1 for boss fights, that's something I would pay for as a DLC! (There actually was one boss fight at the end of tutorial, but I'm with you on more classic ones :))
People might not like to hear it but it's the truth. Nowadays people want to gain so much for so little.
I for one appreciate the amount of effort that devs had put into the game (given the concept was newly created at the time of the game jam). The challenges and endless mode as well as other aspects of the game (treedude) are all part of the experience of the game.
People forget that small teams make do with the stuff they have. They would rather demand the game be under $10 regardless of how much content there is.
This also goes hand in hand with reviews. People will be sponge like and believe every word they read about a game and then not take in any other information about the game. For example in Superhot a lot of the reviews peg the ENTIRE game as being 2 or less hours. Then people believe these reviews and refuse to believe it has much more to offer.
These are also the people that demand (in every newly released game discussion forum) for the game to have multiplayer and workshop support. It puts a hell of a lot of pressure on devs nowadays to satisfy these type of people.
Its was disappointed me about the gaming industry over the past 10 or so years.
The maps are just flat walls with some simple props without texture and enemies are standart crystals. So you can sit and make a long good map in one day without much effort. You can create some more crystal enemies. Even the simplest puzzle games got something to play and mostly they are very long with many levels, because the material is simple to use, easy to make much more levels..
Devs did not do that at this game. Free content at future? Nice.. but this game is at development for years.. i still can't understand why there is so few maps/enemies to play.
Thats a joke. Watch the old videos, looks much better, more details.
For this price there should be 100 maps.
i mean, look at this maps, everything white, only 1 enemy type, weapon models are also,, lets saay simplified.
Not so much work compared to standart FPS in this price class.
I also like Transformers and other short games , which made for multiple playthrows.
But c´mon, thats really extra short and challanges are for me not the main game. Thats extra content in a normal game
As for how I got to 30+ hours it was not by running through the main campaign once. I beat the main campaign in less than 2 hours but found the challenge modes to be really good. Most people see the first 1 or 2 challenge modes and think they're only slight variations on the main campaign but some of them play completely differently (ghost comes to mind).
Endless can also be fun though for me the real meat was in the challenges. As for extra content I trust them, the game came out less than a month and a half ago, don't know how you "lost faith in post-release content a long time ago" (unless you mean for games in general that is).
In fact people hacking the game already managed to gain access to some of the extra content and then they patched the game against the hack.
