Adults have children and try to pass on the best parts of their minds.
Parents die and the children live on with some of those original minds in their own.

Black Mirror had it right all along; the future will bring mind and software together (it already has, in some cases; amputees can use their mind to move prosthetics). Religion had it right, too, to a degree: the body is a useless shell, made to house our "self", which is everything our mind contains, albeit with a big bunch of messy infrastructure surrounding it. You think you're falling in love? Thought process. Can't stop crying? Psychological trauma. Loyal to your friends? Knowledge of their deeds.
