20XX
(SPOILERS) Stupid ending sequence
Seriously, how the hell was I supposed to know that the only way to win the game was to free the robot who is the only one that can open the seemingly impossible to open door? Why is there even an end sequence that can kill you? What kind of decision was that?

What's this mention of an alternate ending? Are you implying that the ending sequence I got was unique because of something I did?

Either you free AL and have him destroy the wall, or you mash it to death yourself. Up to you.

I was spamming the shoot button for what must have been 10 seconds before I died to the explosion wall, the door didn't budge. I doubt I'll get to that point again, my run was very good and I don't play difficult platformers often. Guess I'm too dumb.
Anyway, you're suppose to free AL from the cage and let him destroy the wall.

I never had a problem breaking the wall without the robot, actually I didn't know the explosion wall could actually even kill you, I thought it was just for effect since it backs up if you fall in lava or something

You can die in that section ? Lol.

Just shoot the wall. There is an achievement for not saving the robot and ending. I dont think the explosions can hurt you.

You were gonna leave him behind? You got what you deserved.

Before actually escaping the explosions won't reach you at all. I just did it with our robot friend

there is a timer, if you just stand around, or don't have the dps to breach that wall in time, you can die there, you've got a fair buffer though, and there's very little reason why anyone shouldn't be able to break that wall in time.

The only reason I can think of, is if you're playing Hawk, and have no energy left.

Don't let yourself get discouraged by this minor setback, I recently did a fresh new game playing with a friend and despite my extensive megaman games past, I had the same happen to me, truth is, before you unlock some of the best items that give much better power up the end game can scale much faster than you do, even on a good run, if you do like the platforming action, not only will you get better, but you'll start seeing consistently "better" runs as you find +5 power ups vs +1 at the start.

Anyways, sorry you stumbled upon the harder ending option and had to face a litteral wall to your progress, I'm sure your eventual victory will be all the sweeter.

Hawk can actually steal energy from the wall, so Hawk is never out of NRG. :P
