I personally prefer the spinning glaive over the saber.
In the case of the old Axe vs new..... I definitely prefer the new. The old axe wasn't very well balanced. It was either one shotting bosses, which isn't good, or it wasn't performing well period, which also wasn't good.
Nina's on the other hand, euch, I don't really wander far from her default personally. I like more concentrated damage, which is pretty much none of her weapons except the wave beam, but that one has the issue of being... well... wavy.
Her Spread Shot is the same as Ax. Just one shotting. (not to the extent, but damn well close.)
Oh well. Guess I found my play style. Grrrr!
A-Saber is the regular weapon. You get a three swing combo on both the ground and the air, with the final hit of the combo dealing 40% extra damage. Decent vertical range, decent horizontal range, really powerful all-round. Guess you could call this the "Jack of all trades, master of them all" weapon. (Unless you want to attack downwards... but there's always Powers for that.)
Spear reduces vertical range and vastly increases horizontal range. Somewhat slows your attacks down (because of the two hit combo instead of three) but you get a damage boost to accomodate for that. Charged hits deal reduced damage but get increased range.
Glaive increases vertical range but requires some skill to use effectively on bosses. Also slightly reduces horizontal range. The trick against bosses is to spin in the air once, immediately land and then perform the landing combo - it counts as a three hit combo, so all hits will land. Also the landing combo is stronger, so you should be using that anyway to deal extra damage, compared to the regular floor combo.
Blender... is Blender. You increase its damage and size by hitting enemies, and at max power it's ridiculously overpowered. (But at minimum power, it's kinda underpowered.) It also combines super well with Core Augments, like Dracopent's Arms (double max size), Dracopent's Helm (reduced size reduction over time) and Oxjack's Arms (increase size faster). It recently recieved a nerf, but it's still stupid powerful.
And then there's the Axe. Most powerful primary weapon in the game, and also the one that's most likely to get you killed. The one real benefit the Axe has over the other weapons is that you can spam charge shots without having to charge up - any aerial attack is a charged slam. This makes it synergise extremely well with Armatort's Arms (charged hits delete enemy shots). It takes a lot of getting used to, though - definitely the hardest weapon to use, by far.
I'm sorry. Blender?
I didn't know this about the weapon. that little shimmy shimmy thing gets bigger? Wwhhaaaaa?? OOoh I'm gonnna check that out!
Fight bosses. Acquire women. Profit.
I uh... Had no idea though how good the blender was.
Fockin doing it mate!
