Dec 05 2018 patch causing runtime errors
I just updated to the new patch but now when I go to launch the game I get to the controller splash screen and then I get a Windows dialog box saying a runtime error occurred in 20xx.exe. I'm running Windows 10 and I tried rebooting but that didn't help. Is there a way to roll back the updates? I was playing the game just fine last night so it was working recently. Anyone else having similar problems?

Also, I tried validating the local files, and it said two files failed to validate and will be re-acquired. However, the game still crashes.

Also, FWIW, I have both the Hawk and Draco DLCs.

Similiar issue. Game starts launching but never does. Eventually the icon on the taskbar goes away, like 15 seconds after pressing play. No splash screen, no error dialog, nada. Similiar error log to Koop. I'd post it but it's over a mb in size... Lots of duplicate resolutions detected. Ends the exact same way though. Also shows 2 files failing to verify every time. Moved game from b to c drive, no difference. Tried beta branch, no difference. Back to stable, no dif. Tried launching the exe directly and same problem.

Specs:
2700x
X470 Gigabyte gaming 5
16 gb ram
1080 ti
Newest drivers for gpu and updated bios.
Windows 10 Pro

Edit:
I just found that in my appdata/local theres a folder called "CrashDumps" that is filled with files called 20xx.exe.#####.dmp. Seems to add a new one each time I try launching the game. Each file is about 75 mb too.

For those having this issue, what is your system config? Anything unusual about the PC? Maybe we can find a common thread and narrow this ♥♥♥♥ down.

I have two monitors hooked up, 1440p, gsync, and one monitor at 144hz. Only antivirus is Malwarebytes (and windows defender). Plus like 6 hdd/ssd's. Otherwise pretty standard config.

Hey, folks - working on getting to the bottom of this - since it's affecting a few players, I've set up a branch with the old build on it. If you go to 20XX in your Library, click Properties -> Betas, enter "pharaohmanold" - a branch called "pharaohman" ought to appear in the dropdown (restart Steam if it does not). Pick this beta, let it update, and you ought to be good.

If folks could send me screenshots (if an error appears) and their log.txt file to chris AT batterystaplegames DOT com, that'll help me get to the bottom of this - thank you!

Yes, please! This is a fine bandaid, but I have to fix whatever's causing the problem at some point.

Another thing to try for people in this thread - if you disable Steam Cloud for 20XX, then rename Documents/20XX/ (say, to Documents/20XX_backup/), does the problem still happen with the live build?

Just emailed you. I tried disabling steam cloud, overlay, and switched off the beta channel with the 20xx folder deleted; didn't help.

I've also e-mailed my data. Same story as the others. The old build works. The new build doesn't. Removing the save game files doesn't help. I noticed when I switched to the old build it downloaded something like 71 MB of data, but when I switched back it only downloaded 2.8MB. That seemed a little odd to me.

it hangs as soon as you enabling "fullscreen (vsync on)" instead of borderless window
so i've updated to pharaohmanold beta, reverted setting to borderless window, downloaded non-beta again and it's running smoothly

I tried Nv's workaround, but it didn't help me. For starters, I was already in borderless window mode when I switched back to the old beta. I tried setting the screen to windowed mode at 1600x900, but it still crashes on startup for me with a runtime error.

I'm going to try doing the opposite and switch to fullscreen (vsync on ) and see if that helps.

Side question: is there a way to adjust the options other than through the game?

EDIT: No luck on the Fullscreen w/Vsync. I still get runtime error :(
