nuts are used in runs - to buy stuff in shops, or use vending machines.
"tokens" are used to purchase items in the hub

Aren't Soul Chips the ones used to buy items ?

Also, where does 'nuts' displayed on screen ?

And where is the 'hub' for tokens ?

I am too canfused lol, I did beat three bosses already but still can't understand game basics.
Probably because i am used to megaman x series gameplay.

'Nuts' is the most common currency in a run. They can be used to buy consumable pick ups like health or energy at vending machines of the appropriate color (green for health, blue for energy). There are also RED vending machines which you *buy* nuts at the *cost* of your armor/health (this can kill you). Vending machines of all types, have a limited amount of use, which can be as little as one use before they explode and become useless, to... well, a lot of uses.

Primarily, what you will be using nuts for is to find shops which you can exchange the nuts for augs that power you up. Shops *can* (not guaranteed) be found in side paths in stages, or at the end in the boss hallway in a level (sometimes one or the other, sometimes both. The symbols at the bottom of the shop transporter tell you if it could be found in the stage (left icon showing a little humanoid figure inside of it), and/or if it's in a boss hallway (right icon showing a skull-like looking thing).
Even if a level has both a mid-level and end-level shop, they are both still the exact same shop. If you bought something or expended the vending machine inside of them, it will still be the same no matter which entrance/exit you use.
Augs can go on sale. This will be indicated with the aug's price being green. Items that are on sale are 50% off from their normal price. This means even if it's an aug you may not particularily need, you'll still usually get more bang for your buck than normal. But be sure not to spend all of your money all in one place either. Sometimes a shop may have something you really want, and there's a finite amount of money in a run.
Finally, shops sell both augs, and core augs, and will always have a health or energy vending machine inside of them.

Be mindful that health vending machines in the boss hallways (if they spawn) or cheaper than any other health vending machine in the game (2 nuts per use, as opposed to the usual 3 nuts per use).

On an additional note, nuts can be used for other things regarding augs as well. One aug lets you consume nuts when you run out of energy to use powers instead at 3 nuts per 1 energy. Another aug gives you +1 power and attack damage for every 10 nuts you hold. Other augs may give you a chance on picking up nuts, to recover 1 health, energy, or obtain 1 point of armor. They also all stack with each other.

Tokens can be used only at slot machines, which can only sometimes be found in the boss hallway at the end of a level. Tokens can be purchased before a run, and found from enemy drops at a low chance. There is also an "aug" that just gives you 3 tokens flat out.

The slot machine requires 1 token per use, and you have a chance to win:

* 1 nut to a handful of nuts (I think it's 1 to 10)

* Augs of various rarities

* Core augs (armor pieces you can equip)

* Weapons

* Absolutely nothing (losing the slot machine roll)

Basically anything in the game that isn't a boss power or a prototype aug.

There is an aug that makes it so you *always* win from the slot machines, and the chances to win more rare, higher tier items is much more common.

Soul chips are used to buy items in the safe house. These can be permanent upgrades, to UNLOCKING items to show up in future runs, to buying tokens, or not unlocking items, but buying items to start with on a new run.

Be sure to use as many soul chips as you can. Once you leave the safehouse when starting a new run, your soulchips will all disappear bringing you back to 0 soul chips (the game will warn you if you forget to use them all before trying to start a run).

The idea is to do a run, get as many soul chips as you can, die (most likely, though you can win the game), buy some cool new toys to find on a run (and start with them), and play again, now with more useful items to find to aid you.

It's been "Nut Stack" the whole time. There's a "T" in there you're missing. :spazwinky:

Actually a while back Chris normallized how Vending Machines break a bit, the first and second use never break the machine anymore, and higher use counts are much more likely break them, also for the OP, you can Charge Quint Laser to knock them over, forcing a small spew of drops, and counting for Vendsmasher's effects if you have it
