I'm not 100% sure how it handles in endless but in endless boss rush, I can't imagine a better set.
Use all the boss's weaknesses and the only boss that will ever be a threat is Eternal Star (moves ridiculously fast at high levels).
Use ice skill to cover flame throwers.
Use flame shield to protect against ice throwing traps.
Use the explosion skill to disable lasers.
Use the quint laser to knockdown vending machines, so you don't feel like you are missing out.
Pink is still pretty cool though. But green just has that variety that I oh so enjoy :)
And since you can fly over/deactivate/freeze/melt the most dangerous hazards, I don't really see a need for Armatort's set bonus. Nut drops are also far more common than health drops, so I think a couple of Armor Nuts are more useful than Armatort's health-to-armor conversion. Does it even proc if you also have Spillover Matrix and the health is converted to NRG? That would make it even less useful.
^. Eternal Star is just cheap in Endless mode. Valve, please fix.
Pretty sure even if the health capsule is converted to energy, Armatort's dome still procs.
It has a higher rate to proc if you have full health, but I'm not sure if the higher chance works if you have spillover matrix with a depleted energy pool. It may or may not act as if your health pool is depleted.
For Ace though, I'd have to say Owlhawk is better since he lacks in the range department. And no, spear is not a valid argument for non-owlhawk armor sets, because it lacks any vertical range. Even with spear, Owlhawk is best because it lets you hit above and below you. Owlhawk boots also gives Ace decent mobility (although I prefer double jump in general).
Oxjack is tolerable, but lacking in offense even with the quick charge. The triple air dash is very useful, but also a bit clunky control wise. The shot erasing dash-shield is a nice defensive touch, especially vs certain bosses. All in all, Oxjack is ok, and if you just picked up your third piece in the set, may as well aim for the fourth.
Armatort is boring. Armatort is bland. Armatort is basic. Armatort is bovine. Armatort is gonna have to buy me a thesaurus so I can insult it with more words beginning in "b". Armatort makes puppies whimper and baby jesus cry with disappointment. Armatort once failed to stop a mugger because he ran up some steps and Armatort could only hover horizontally. I heard Armatort's so fat, that it's, like, really really fat, and that's probably genetic or something.
For Ace I always just keep the OG sword. Spear is wonderful, Glaive is a whirling dirvish of death, but the sword is just so decent it's hard to use another weapon besides that.
What could be done to make yellow and red suits more playable (as compared to red/green which we all know are the best choices)? Maybe if yellow took half damage? Maybe if red allowed you to dash/phase through enemies without being hit?
Green just provides too much overall value and shenanigans. Pink gives too much pure dps and mobility. Not "too much", just compared to the red/yellow suits.
My ideas for Oxjack are:
We did suggest some changes for Armatort a while back, but Chris said he's happy with where it is. That said. I do think the legs need to give you vertical mobility. The helmet also neutralizes the chests bonus since armor already ignores knockback.
