what the hell does "lock the blocks" mean?

I wend into a challenge room and it just daind lock the blocks, while platforms appeared and dissapeared in a box i couldn't enter while icicles kept getting shot at me...what did I do wrong?

The Shadespur power locks those types of blocks in place

aw what? I didn't even have that power. I understand the games randomly generated but can't they make it so it can only pull challenges that are actually possible?

It gives you powers when you enter the room. Unless your game bugged out, you just didn't realize it swapped your power slots with the power you need.
