Yes, what you craft from the items you have will be completely random, other than the fact dino + dino items = dino items and vise verse for humans. If you want to specifically craft a skin for a class, class tokens will be able to be purchased and used for the class if you wish.

I could never listen to it because the Twitch has no quality options and the bitrate was too high.
Aside from seasonal gimmicks, the only thing you really craft in Tf2 are hats (by destroying a large number of regular weapon drops), regular weapons (almost never worth it, unless the weapon has been recently released) and class tokens (which restrict crafting results to a specific class).
The tf2 crafting system has no relevance to this game, since Primal Carnage has no "weapon drops" (all gameplay stuff is available to everyone all the time) only "skins".
A developer said it will be more like CSGO (destroy a number of skins to receive "rarer" skins).
Crates will also be craftable[primalcarnageforums.com] (supposedly into common items), so if anyone is "kindly" offering you to take your crates off you for free, they are basically scamming you.
