Love the rallies and racing - HATE the Gymkhana

I can't seem to do even the tutorials at Gymkhana Academy to progress to season two.
I am using an xbox360 controller.
Spent 2 hours yesterday and now 2 hours today, and finally got lucky on the drift gates, but am stuck now on the spins in the box. Not looking forward to even trying it any longer.

Is there any advice or special car setups needed to ease this headache, or preferably a means to skip the Gymkhana altogether and progress to next season?

I agree. I was really loving this game until I got to the Gymkhana. It straight up sucks. A mod that completely removes this part of the game would be ideal.

I only do the Gymkhana stuff if I absolutly must to progress. You don't end up doing very many of them if you get 1st on the other races.

I've not quite got to the Gymkhana bit yet, but from memory when I played the GFWL version I think I lowered the difficulty level so the target scores needed weren't as high. I also think there are driver assists that you can turn on somewhere in the menus where you set the difficulty levels.

My preferred gymkhana car set-up was 5 / 3 / 1 / 1 / 2 / 3.

Other than that it's just practice.

That's just the thing, though. I'm not interested in spending a lot of time practicing and getting better at Gymkhana. I'm interested in racing.

just skip the gymkhana events then. i don't think there is a way to disable them. afaik none of the dirt tour championships require doing gymkhana. i can't remember for sure, but i think you can access the second tour without doing gymkhana academy.

edit: might require placing first in all the non gymkhanas.

Gymkhana was alwasy the worst aspect of Dirt 3 - and I'm never sure why Codies remained so wedded to the idea. Did North America particularly like it? I know that EU true Rally fans mostly despised it (myself included). It cheapened the game (along with those b*llsachigly bad commentators) and wasted a lot of development time and resources that could (should) have gone into making Dirt 3 a great rally game.

Will Codies give a single ****? Hmmm. I'm not so sure. They seem deaf to repeated calls for a 'true' rally game (which they really could make if they chose) and I worry that Dirt 4 will be yet another unsatisfactory grab-bag of jarring styles and modes...when all we really, really want is one damn good rally game.

yep it's the worst part of the game.

Lower the dificulty, turn on the assists (they are specific for that category) and setup your car so that the rear is looser coupled with a short gear ratio.

I am fine with the game having Gymkhana and enjoy it personally, but I would prefer it not part of the dirt tour. Just keep it as single and multiplayer gametype.
