If you were to play just the story in this game and not fool around as i mentioned. you could most likely complete it under 2 hours. not to mention this game being higher price than the previous ones.
The developers said somewhere that switching to 3D took longer and was more work than they anticipated, so most likely that's the reason there isn't more content at the moment.
Still, I'm sure there's more coming in the not too far future. If you remember the end of the game, there's still two pieces of Trine shards missing, not to mention finding Sarek's heart and defeating Sarek himself.
So that's at least 4-5 additional story levels plus several boss levels and maybe more challenge levels, that will likely come in the form of one or more DLCs. Which means that the complete Trine 3 should be as long or longer than Trine 2 Complete Story.
Here's hoping we get an official statement soon.
Trine 2 was a great game for 3 bucks. Short, but fun. I'm sure this too will be a great game at 3 bucks when me and a handful of friends can all get it and beat it in a night.
I've got mixed feelings, maybe the rest of the game will be great, but will we have to pay again? imagine if in trine 2 they cut the game right after you talk to Rosabel.
