Oh, yes I did in this one. That must be it.
I wonder why though.
Not for sure. Maybe Kate actually feels that Max is there for her if you told her to go to the police, and if you don't she feels like you're telling her to do nothing about the situation. I don't know how Jefferson would know this either way.
I took the picture of Madsen harrassing Kate but encouraged her to go to the police out of fear it would tip the balance into her deciding to jump off the roof.
Does anyone know if you can take the photo and tell Kate to gather more proof and still save her?
No matter what choices you make, you can still save her. Although it will harder.
Yeah, he shouldn' t know. It also could have something to do with the convo outside of class right before he got the call.
As of right now there is no benefit to telling Kate not to go to the police what with it being easier to save her and Jefferson being nicer when you accuse him. With the other choices taking the picture, not erasing the weblink, not answering the call have little benefits, but so far nothing for telling her to wait for more evidence.... Maybe they're trying to make a statement that you should always report to the proper authorities if you think you've been drugged/sexually assaulted and you are feeling suicidal.... Orrrrr, it will have some impact later on, like Nathan will be more likely to attack you and be angry with you if you told her to talk to the police.
Also has anyone tried telling Kate to go to the police and then not answer Kate's call? Does Jefferson still say you talked to Kate?
- In Episode 1, near the girl dorm, Kate is sitting on a bench and is looking straight in front of her. We may think she was looking at the tree, but if you check more closely, you can spot the stone fence of Blackwell Academy.
- In the beginning of Episode 2, Max needs to give back ''October Country'' to Kate Marsh and she asks you to put it right next to her backpack.
- There's also the mess on her bedroom's floor, which could be explained by the fact that she put hurriedly the most important things in her backpack.
- Right before class, the backpack wasn't in Jefferson's classroom. She wasn't planning to attend class.
- In Episode 3, in the pool scene, you can check her locker and find a bus ticket bought October 2nd to Portland.
- Also, when you try to sneak out of the girl dorm, you can hear the Principal blabbering about how he wanted Kate to get away from Blackwell Academy instead of a suicide attempt.
Therefore, I think before her talk with Mark Jefferson, Kate was planning to escape Blackwell Academy (with reason). Nathan's video and David's harassment are the cause of her deep depression, but not of her suicide attempt. I think she would also resist to this idea because of her spiritual convictions. She seems very church-goer and in some catholic groups, suicide is somewhat considered a sin and therefore, the person who commit suicide would go to hell.
So who convinced Kate to kill herself? I agree she could have met anybody between the school and the dorms. But Nathan has an alibi because he was in the classroom. And David was in the school hall until class started. I know there's someone who's taking a picture of Kate outside, but I don't think it's David : he's well hidden and David would have to run insanely fast to catch her up. Also, maybe it's another security employee or it's someone dressed like him (like Samuel?).
Between the three suspects in the principal's office, I definitely think Mark Jefferson was the last person to talk to her. And if her main plan was to escape before her chat with him, he must have said something really awful to her to change her mind. :/
Excellent post. You're onto something here.
I personally believe that Jefferson likes to take pictures of girls "when they're most innocent" and Nathan is just a tool for him who drugs them and brings them to his room. The Principal is probably in on it as well.
So it's possible that Jefferson threatened/blackmailed Kate that he would release those pictures if she goes to the police. This was the final straw for her to commit suicide. At that point she thought her church and her family would cast her out. The video was bad enough but who knows what she looks like in those pictures. Maybe someone else is even with her. Hell, it's possible that Jefferson even has sex with them while they're drugged (that cheerleader girl was pregnant and there are some hints that she slept with Jefferson), although I'm not sure if the game is willing to go that far. But height of innocence does sound like 'right before losing your virginity'.
Brilliant.
It is, indeed, very likely the talk with Mr. Jefferson put her over the edge (quite literally even). Not necessarily sure it means he blackmailed her, though. For one, from the letter her aunt sent her, we know her family has already seen katesvid: the cat is already out of the bag, so to speak. Mr. Jefferson was very dismissive about her story, though, and it could just mean she felt too alone and abandoned after the adult she trust and does projects for lets her down as well.
I absolutely believe in Geek Remix's theory about Mr. Jefferson being the main culprit, btw. But threatening to release photos of her?! He'd have to do some pretty fancy explaining as to how he got hold of those. :P I think Mr. Jefferson was *precisely* so dismissive to her because he's guilty/involved.
